We were due a bit of luck Hull heads seem to go down after we scored They sort of sat back for some reason Hull not a bad side so it was a decent point
First thing - belated birthday greetings for Hoops & Dreams!
I am actually looking forward to seeing the full 90 mins tomorrow now I know we fought back! Who would have thought QPR would do that against Hull to grab a draw, and Scotland against England in the rugby!!
I look forward to your observations Kingfisher.
For me it was a game that I'm hoping McClaren might have learnt something from but the team sheet against Bolton will be the proof.
If we are going to continue to invite pressure then it is only going to work if we defend solidly and then break with pace. Furlong is becoming a bit of a liability and Rangel will walk back into the team once fit.
BOS frightened the daylights out of the Hull defence and he must be found a place in our starting line up. If Freeman is fit then I would play him behind Wells and move BOS out to the left. Eze is not consistent enough and only deserves a place on the bench.
Indeed stoatey not only will Rangel walk back into the team but we need to be looking at an option on a deal for next season.
Our poor form since Christmas has reinforced how important Rangel and Cameron are so we really need to look at securing them for next season.
Furlong is definitely on his worst run of form in hoops and changing his position long term to centre back needs to be considered.
I am presuming we are looking at Furlong then as cover for Leistner or perhaps even a replacement for him? Hall and Lynch would be the candidates for the left-footed CB role, but who is there as cover for Jake Bidwell? Should he depart at the end of the season or get injured/suspended we seem to have no cover. Thankfully he has been Mr Steady Eddie all season!

I hope they extend Bidwells contract but if they don't I could see them playing Manning in that left wing back position.
Well for what it is worth, after watching the full 90 mins on video I can offer some crumbs of comfort and also more broken biscuits !
We have all been waiting, less than patiently, for the return of Geoff Cameron, and it finally arrived [crumb]. If you look at his performance based solely on this game you would wonder why we were impatient as he was off-pace and not engaging ball-players as before his injury; but that is the crux of the matter - he was injured and is coming back to match-fitness. Should he have had more appearances as a sub in prior matches before this start, probably. We must continue being patient!
As before [broken biscuit] we found QPR losing out on ping-pong heading. Apart from the aforesaid Cameron, we do not have players capable of outjumping to get to aerial balls. The goaliaths always seem to win. I think QPR should lobby for the issue of lightweight stepladders for players at/below 5' 8"....
Lumley made some great saves and also showed he is a safe pair of hands. (I am sure Millwall will be looking for a better goalie soon....) However, he is still [broken biscuit] kicking out badly. Is someone actually doing anything at the club about this issue?
Wells did an awful lot of off-ball running and put in a good shift in midfield too [crumb]; but that is the point - he is still having to come back to support the midfield and even to get some service for himself[broken biscuit]! We are losing games from the midfield, without a doubt.
Once Freeman was substituted we were presented with the entry of Osayi-Samuel to, once again, disrupt a settled defence. He was always a threat and his efforts did appear to have Eze discover what second gear looked like too! [crumb]
That brings us, rather neatly I thought, to Eze. Yet another start and yet another game where he frequently let play pass him by [broken biscuit]. I still feel he is a luxury we cannot carry when he declines to tackle, declines to chase, or even declines to take players on. He was not so bad in this game but, again, what are the club doing to improve him?He has been called up by England U-20s but, just like QPR, England expects....
Once Cameron came off then we had the pleasure of seeing Scowen at his attacking best. OK, the goal looked very much like a goal area pass but it was very welcome; and his movement across the pitch was back to days gone by! [crumb] For me, this makes McClaren's selection for the next game that much harder...
That, equally neatly, brings us onto the subs. In past games we have been critical of either late or odd changes. Here it was better, as Freeman was replaced (presumably because of the knock) by BOS; Cameron by Scowen; and Wells by Hemed. All like-for-like and useful.
Onto the goals. To me, Bidwell's loose marking seemed a major reason for the ease of the ir first goal, whilst Cameron seemed to not do enough to prevent the second. But this is not just about goals against. The team (yet again) did not roll over. Instead they fought harder to defend and harder to score. in the end, this draw was a fair result.
Furlong's problems defending [broken biscuit] have been mentioned before, but it is obvious that Wszolek had to occupy up a slit trench in front of him for most of the game. If we are to do better in midfield and in attack we need to be confident in our RB. Again, this is an area that the club must address. They need to work on his closing down of ball-players on the wing and ensuring he is not turned.
Lest we forget - Hull's defence was solid, well-organised and dominant. To get a draw against them at home was an achievement!

Incredible feedback kingfisher, very much appreciated!
Regarding Cameron we probably should have just waited until after this 2 week break to bring him back. He clearly wasn't 100% so it was almost a needless risk when he could have had an extra 2 weeks rehab.
Lumley's kicking is a strange one as it has been horrendous in the last few months but I definitely remember praising him for this earlier in the season!
Scowen by all accounts played like a man possessed! Cousins could be struggling for any more game time now in the final 8 games of the season as he has definitely fallen behind Cameron and Scowen. Cousins was good against Leeds and that was it, he has been relatively poor aside from that one match.
As far as next season Our main objective is we need a goalscorer like Bowen Somebody who can make a goal out of nothing and without him,i think hull would of struggled Brighton would struggle without Murray It’s pure and simple that gem isn’t wells or eze and not within our squad, you score no goals you don’t win games as we all know Where we find these strikers I don’t know but there must be a premier league youngster or lower league striker out there Washington never got going though and we’ve struggled since Charlie has gone and he’s a hard player to replace
