Considering there’s a lot of new players and mean some literally have been here days, they did ok today The team will gel hopefully but we can’t expect them to play as a unit yet and it may take a few games too
Only concern is goals being scored and by who but miracles may happen and we find that striker in the end from what we have

Agreed and that need to gel makes it even odder that Cameron was not given game time. Yet again he is joining late and playing 'catch-up'. The major area for improvement is not new, it is in the area. There we need to spread the players so they are not all chasing the ball and instead making it difficult for defenders to cope. We did OK though against a PL side that could have won more convincingly if we had capitulated after the unlucky goal.
Thank you so much feedback, great insight for those of us unable to see the game.
Reading your comments I'd say we look ok but clearly gaining confidence in the final third and scoring goals will dictate how good our season is.
Adding another two signings improves the look of the squad. A positive day I'd say.
Yes it should be regarded as a positive performance. Both sides were going for it and both were trying to move the ball forward from the back, so a good test for defenders & attackers from both sides. As I mentioned elsewhere, the Kilburn Times tweeted 'Mark Warburton says another signing should be completed by Monday, with another player expected to join shortly after that which will then complete the club’s transfer business'. I think there will be a lot more going out though than coming in!
Busiest summer ever. Thank God I delayed the Dream R's!!
Could end up with 16 coming in and more gone from those who were here last season!
Who was Captain today??
Sorry for the delay northwesthoop - I was called to cook the dinner! The captain was, surprisingly, Grant Hall. I would have thought it would be Ball but perhaps he does not like to worry about those sort of things....
FT and the result is 0-1 to Watford which, on balance, is probably a fair result. Despite some good attacks there was at times confusion in the final third as the ball would be being chased by 3 of our players, with none gaining a decent advantage as they get in each others way.
Quick summary on performance:
Defence - Lumley has adapted well to playing the ball out and made decent saves. He was not at fault for the goal as far as I could see. There was a good pairing of Hall & Barbet, only beaten by that deflection, and both Rangel & Manning did well down the line. As expected, Watford targeted Manning as the perceived 'weak link' and he could have benefited from better support from BOS/Eze.
Midfield - Ball was both the playmaker from the back and also MotM for me. Smith was there in support and Amos & Eze ahead, making the link with the attack.
Attack - Mlakar & BOS did well although both at times found themselves offside, but Mlakar's anticipation was good and BOS made it difficult for the Watford defence. Eze, like Amos, has to be regarded as an attacking midfielder and their overall contribution was promising. Eze seems to have engaged another gear, no longer performing just 'one-twos' with team members but getting stuck in and making himself available for return balls (last season he seemed frightened of getting hurt); and I would say he is almost the equivalent of Ball for the attack as he spreads the ball around to change the direction of play or to a better positioned team member.
Subs - Kelly did manage to make a decent save when he came on, but both Oteh and Owens only had a few minutes play. The earlier subs - Leistner, Shodipo, Scowen & Chair did make an impact (despite the turmoil that multiple changes always causes). Scowen again assumed the AM role, with Chair going wider on the right to link up with Shodipo. Leistner was in the thick of it and, if rumours are to be believed, he is leaving then his solid, decisive interceptions and passes will be missed.
Do I feel optimistic about playing Stoke next Saturday after this game? Probably not, but I equally do not feel more pessimistic. Based upon this performance, I fancy a draw against the Potters!
Thanks for the report Kingfisher, I'm feeling a little more positive now. We certainly seem to have plenty of players to choose from and if the reports are to be believed there are more about to join.

You are more than welcome stoatey and I would like to draw to everyone's attention that most Championship sides played in friendlies yesterday, and most against PL opponents, with only a commendable Preston beating Newcastle but others got thrashed! That puts our narrow loss in better perspective I feel.
