Let's not get too hasty with the judgements after todays game whether we win, lose or draw, we will remain a work in progress. This is just game 1 of what feels like a new era almost with a new manager and 75% it is a new side too.
I just hope the team play for the shirt and show signs of having a plan, which has often been missing for the past few years.
And don't forget there is no Lynch to endure today! For the first time in 3 seasons we don't have that fear of his next inevitable error hanging over us. So that is a positive no matter what the result is!
No I want warburton out if we don’t win today (lol)
It’s going to take a while to get this team to gel and I don’t expect us to win but as long as they don’t fold and get thrashed then I won’t have a lot to moan about Some players have just about been here a week and we can’t expect miracles
I was a bit worried when the ball hit Pughs raised arm late in the game. I was convinced we had thrown the points away and that the ref would give a penalty but not to be. I bet the Stokies are calling the ref every name they can think of.
As for the game I thought we started slowly but BOS always looked dangerous when running at their left back. In fact it was from a BOS cross that we took the lead when Hugill scored from about 5yards. The goal really settled us and there seemed to be so much confidence that I wondered if I was really watching QPR. We should have gone two up but Scowen headed wide of an open goal.
I expected Stoke to be hot out of the blocks in the 2nd half but for a home team who were a goal down they seemed to be missing a spark. This was good for us and Eze scored a great goal when picking the ball up and running past 2 Stoke players to place the ball low into the right corner of the Stoke goal.
Stoke now seemed to wake up and they targeted Manning and our left hand side which after a couple of close shaves resulted in a goal to reduce our lead to 2 - 1. Lumley who had done well through most of the game then frightened the life out of me by coming for a high Stoke free-kick that sailed over him but was headed just wide by a Stoke player.
The game finished 2 - 1 to the Rs and a well deserved 3 points. What a great start to the season.
