Whereas QPR have only broke even once in the last 25 years according to Hoos at the fans forum. Crazy.
Let's not forget that the last 25 years has been a period of real turmoil that has seen the club nearly go out of business on several occasions.
The club were floated on the AIM market in 1991
In 1996 our major shareholder was Chris Wright who seemed to try his best to keep us afloat but haemorraged money and eventually sold a significant number of his shares.
In 2001 we seemed to end up in the combined hands of Italian football agent Antonio Caliendo, Chris Wright and Financial Administration where we stayed until managing to raise a high interest £10m ABC loan. The loan was a noose around our neck which tightened every season. This period was also infamous for several boardroom scandals including the gun in the boardroom incident during the 2006/7 season.
In 2007 we thought that we had become the richest club in the world when Ecclestone, Briatore and Mittal combined to buy out Calliendo and Wright and pay off the ABC loan. During their ownership we would see accusations of Flavio wanting to pick the team but it would all end brilliantly as in 2011 under manager Neil Warnock we were promoted back to the Premiership.
In 2011 with our debts all paid off and the club set to receive tens of millions in tv revenue the club's majority holding was sold to Tony Fernandes who remains in charge until today and IMO has made more of a financial mess of QPR than any previous owner.
Hopefully, after selling several of our better players in the summer 2019 transfer window the 2019/20 accounts might at last show the club in a better position.
Going forward I wouldn't be averse to seeing us taken over by Joe Lumley's mum because she seemed to win every prize in the QPR raffle and that is just the luck we need!
I can't remember what year he said, but he definitely said about it only happening once.
I think He said it was something to do with when we where involved with Wasps.
I think we split with Wasps in around 2001 so it must have been pre that time although it would seem strange because Chris Wright who was the man in control back then used to often moan about how much money he was ploughing into the club.
Whilst I have no concrete evidence it would have seemed more likely that the only time we could have been in the black would have been a season between 2007 and 2011 when Briatore, Ecclestone and Mittal were the owners because they were the ones that paid off our £10million ABC loan plus under their stewardship we got promoted back to the Premiership.
