It is a really poor result and breaks our run of having not lost to a team in the bottom half. Changing the defence was a fundamental error from Warburton.
Today just proves we lack the consistency to mount any kind of top 6 challenge. Every time we get some momentum we come crashing down to earth. It is a shame because this season was an opportunity given how poor the standard is across the league.
It looked like a Sunday league match by the highlights We were all over the place and Cameron and wallace looked awful Nice finishes by Amos and that’s all to be happy about A lesson to warburton if it aint broke don’t fix it Never underestimate your opponent
I just don't understand Warburton and his constant need to tinker and mess with what is working. We get our first 2 clean sheets of the season and the ship looks a bit steadier but rather than stick with the same defence he can't resist in making changes. I could have understood if Cameron had been rested because he does struggle to play more than two games in a week but he kept him in the team and made changes that weren't needed.
Our whole defence was poor and Barnsley may have had Conor Chaplin but Wallace's defending was more like Charlie Chaplain.
Barnsley were a poor team but we were so bad today and Warburton must take responsibility for his tinkering and confusing tactics.
I was fuming at how we were playing at Half Time, but by Full Time I was in hysterics at how ridiculous it was. What a game, despite the loss! Any other day that would’ve been 6-6.
Given the fact the day cost me about £100 all in, I’d rather lose by that kind of score rather than 1-0. At least 5-3 is entertaining and value for money!
We drop one place to 13th following the 5-3 defeat against Barnsley
12 months ago after 22 games we were on the very same 31 points and in the very same 13th position
In scoring 3 we have now amassed 35 goals which is level with 2nd and 3rd placed sides Leeds and Preston and only behind leaders West Brom
However we have now conceded a whopping 42 goals which is only behind Barnsley and Luton in the goals against chart. We had conceded 32 at this time last season.
It was the first time we had conceded 5 goals in a game since we let in 7 against West Brom 16 months ago.
It was the first time we had scored 3 goals in an away game and still lost since January 1986. On that occasion we lost 4-3 at Everton.
The disappointing thing with the result yesterday was it was a real missed opportunity. Even with the defeat we remain just 4 points off the top 6 and only 6 points off 3rd. Preston who we beat a week ago and were on a run of 4 straight defeats are now back up to 3rd! We have only won 2 of our last 10 so quite how we are still in a decent position shows how poor the league is.
We are at home to Charlton next who only have 2 points from the last 6 games and no wins in their last 10. They last won against Derby on 19 October and haven't won away since August.
Nahki Wells hasn't scored in his last 6 appearances and Jordan Hugill hasn't scored in his last 5 games.
Luke Amos opening his QPR goal scoring account with 2 goals in his 14th league appearance.
Lee Wallace has now started 5 league games for QPR and we have yet to win - 4 defeats and 1 draw. 1 red card.
Yoann Barbet has now missed 9 games in a row and 10 overall this season.
Ilias Chair scored his first league goal of the season
We scored 3 good goals too But they simply just went for it and frightened the hell out of our defenders,we got sucked in to a end to end game It’s a classic case of being beaten by a out of form team who play like Brazil when we turn up at their gaff It’s been a crazy season,we’ve achieved some good results and 5 away wins, beaten teams we normally lose to like Preston The league is poor and we are really poor at times,we can be great and total rubbish,we can score goals,we just can’t defend and it’s a area we need to strengthen big time in January We will probably lose badly to Charlton now as they haven’t won in ages either,it’s typical QPR Warburton got it wrong yesterday, his team selection and tactics he completely cocked up

Still rates as £12-50p per goal ranger-boy and really not sure if the Rs are value for money! I have deliberately not watched the highlights or Quest channel and await the full '90 mins video' to get a proper idea of how bad it was, but from the comments it appears the only plus points were Amos & Chair finding the net. I would love to be a fly on the wall at Harlington on Monday....
btw I did wear the 'lucky socks' (which are no officially 'not so lucky') but did not manage to find the time to visit a betting shop for the 14/1 punt!

maybe put luke amos up front next game (lol) hes a cool finisher by the look of the highlights charlie austin is proving at west brom even not a 100% fit he is still class after 2 clean sheets we are now having to go back to the drawing board we are too slow and old at the back and a young barnsley side tore us apart at least 2 young defenders in january need to come in
Well I endured the full 90 mins video and here are a few comments:
It was obvious that Barnsley had set themselves up to chase down QPR players, with special emphasis upon Lumley (no surprises there), and that did disrupt play for us. This is not the first side to adopt these tactics but the younger legs of the Barnsley side worked more effectively than others. Eze would find 3 opponents hovering nearby as he receives the ball, and Hugill (somehow) had FIVE around him on one occasion. We really should have exploited the space that marking must have left!
That second goal conceded was poor. OK two tried to deal with the cross in the middle and it went past, leaving Hall in position to counter effectively, but what was Kane doing? Surely it is his responsibility to deal with any balls entering his area of responsibility? Kane then compounded that error by making a clumsy interception that required a super save from Lumley to prevent another goal! On the plus side he then did make a great interception after free kick, but I still feel Rangel would do better...
QPR have adapted themselves to playing their way up the pitch, often with one-touch balls, but it was Barnsley who were the most effective at this!
Is it just me or do others feel we are second best always at heading the ball in midfield?
The first goal for Amos needed a cool but instinctive slot into the goal, and that is what it got. The second was equally opportunist but even better in its execution.
Some of the goals conceded were just good goals, but their fifth showed QPR's defence at its worst. First the cross was allowed by poor attention from Kane, and then Hall almost seems to wave their goalscorer through!
Illias Chair's goal was another opportunist type of goal and, although it was late on and not going to matter too much, it was lovely to see him score.
Bottom line, we were set up wrongly at the start although Warburton moved BOS to the wing after a while; but having Cameron as the sole anchor was asking for trouble. This seemed to be a team set up to attack, but Barnsley did not allow that to happen. We lost it in the midfield (again) and our defence was incapable of preventing itself from imploding (again). For me, I wonder if Pugh would have been a better choice than Manning in the 4-4-2?
Thanks kingfisher as always, once again you were a brave man enduring that.
Wallace was beaten all too easily for the first and by the 5th nobody was concentrating and we had switched off which was bad to see.
Warburton has acknowledged there were harsh words in the dressing room so let's hope there is a response on Saturday. Win and we are back in the top 6 hunt again.
If we can get 6 points from 9 over Christmas then get in 1 or 2 players in January I truly believe we can finish top 10 if not higher. We only need to be a little more consistent (and avoid capitulations like Barnsley) to trouble those above.
