This is another game of our opponents having much more to play for than us, a loss for Barnsley could well be the hammer blow for their survival hopes. On the other hand it's still like a free game for us, we're not going to go down and still have the slightest hint of the play-offs to keep more people interested. However a couple more wins and you never know if the slight hint could become a realistic chance!
This on paper is going to be one of the most straightforward games this month, with Charlton and Fulham still to come. However as long as we do the business against Barnsley and Charlton, then that Fulham game suddenly becomes massive!
If we play like we did during the second half of Saturdays win at Preston, then we'll turn Barnsley over without any issue. However if we play like we did in the reverse fixture in December, then we'll be in for a long afternoon and can probably wave goodbye to any faint play-off dream. Hopefully Connor Chaplin doesn't fancy another hatrick against us!
A quick look on 11v11 tells me we haven't lost at home to Barnsley since the 1949-50 season, which is also the last time they did the league double over us. The last time we dropped any points at home to them was back in 1999. We've won all 11 meetings at home since.
We've already passed one challenging test this month, 3 more to go! Pass all remaining 3, and you never know where it could take us we we enter the business end of the season!
