Now that Goode has signed for Brentford and now that Tom Flanagan has signed an extension at Sunderland I think we should go for Ben Richards-Everton.
At 28yo and 6'5" Richards-Everton was dominant for Bradford last season and was named in the Sky League 2 team of the year. His contract at Bradford has less than a year to run and I reckon we could get him for £500k.
Interestingly, he had a higher Who Scored.com rating than Charlie Goode.
A good shout we simply need a big burly lad at the back Goode is the same just a big lump that heads everything that comes his way
Not so sure about that sole qualification @singlespeed ! Because of the way Warburton plays the team operates best with the CBs pushing up the field. That leaves them vulnerable at times when possession is suddenly lost and a breakaway occurs. Then you want CBs who have already planned for this and have the capability to get back fast and to cover each other. Of course, if he also happens to be 6' 10" and 17 stone, well..... As I mentioned in a new thread, it is reported the club is looking at an ex-Spurs CB who never made it with them: Christian Maghoma. He is 22 and never played in the Championship, but is available on a free. Not sure how committed he will be though.
A quality right back, certainly Championship standard, so a real need with Rangel out long term and Kakay not yet ready. Pacey, great passer, proper tackler, scores a few too. Scotland international. Can also play at left back too. Warburton will know all about his quality from his time in Scotland (I would not be surprised if he already had him is his sights). Also he is the right sort, character/personality-wise. Determined, humble, intelligent (the clubs he has been at have always put him forward to do press stuff because he is intelligent and articulate). I can personally vouch for this because I taught him at my school!
So, he's doing alright, isn't he? Just to think, we could have had the man who had Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish in his pocket for nothing.
