PLACE YOUR BETS 2020/21 RESULTS
It is that time of year again to look back and laugh about how wrong we were
Let's see who actually got something correct... 5 points for each correct answer...
1) How many goals will new striker Lyndon Dykes score this season? 12
Brilliant work from stoatey, MCM Hoop and Rosco Bosco predicting 12 goals. Furthest away were ranger-boy with just 7 and CutePR who went with 19!
2) Who will make the most appearances for QPR this season? Yoann Barbet
I genuinely thought nobody would have this but CutePR, stoatey, jimjams and Rosco Bosco all did! A brilliant prediction because at the time he'd been quite injury prone last season!
3) Who will be the QPR player of the year? Rob Dickie
What a call from MCM Hoop going for Rob Dickie! The worst predictions here came from singlespeed and kingfisher going for George Thomas and ranger-boy going for Masterson! stoatey still had faith in BOS at the time. Most went for Dykes or Chair
4) What position will QPR finish in? 9th
kensalr was closest here going for 8th. singlespeed 18th was furthest away
5) Who will win:
.....A) The Premier League? Manchester City
.....B) The Championship? Norwich City
It was a relatively easy toss up pre-season with everybody going for Either Man City or Liverpool, but I doubt many will go for Liverpool next season!
In the championship everybody went for Norwich, Watford or Brentford who all had a good season.
stoatey, MCM Hoop, myself and LurkR got both correct which is the first time in the 3 seasons we've had this category that players got both.
6) Which 3 teams will get relegated from the Championship? Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham, Wycombe
I have to say this was pretty great from Ghost, myself and ranger-boy who got all 3! Wish we'd put a fiver on that! No mean feat when you see some of the other picks..
The worst calls here were kensalr, MCM Hoop, Rosco Bosco, CutePR and stoatey with Barnsley (5th) and SydneyR with Brentford (3rd) - although that one may have been banter! Then we had jimjams with Reading (7th) and LurkR with 'Boro (10th), whilst and we also saw picks of Stoke and Luton (14th and 12th)
7) How many points will we pick up from our 2 games against Brentford (6 max)? 3
Only stoatey went for 3 points!
8) Which QPR player will pick up the most bookings? Ball and Dickie both got 9
stoatey, SydneyR and LurkR went with Ball whilst MCM Hoop, CutePR and Rosco Bosco got Dickie. qprallan went for Manning back when we hoped he'd stay!
9) The Sack Race... Which team will sack their manager first from:
.....A) The Premier League? West Brom - Slaven Bilic
.....B) The Championship? Nottingham Forest - Sabri Lamouchi
stoatey and kensalr got West Brom, which were the only correct predictions so very good calls as this is a category that is never easy to predict. Worst picks were probably myself, kingfisher and ranger-boy who went for West Ham only for them to have a great season
10) Which Round of the FA Cup will QPR reach? 3rd Round
singlespeed, myself, MCM Hoop, LurkR, Rosco Bosco and CutePR all foresaw a return to normal service and a 3rd round exit. kensalr went for the Quarter Finals...maybe next season!!
In the end stoatey wins with by far the biggest score we've ever seen, getting a massive 40 points!
stoatey predicted Dykes would get 12 goals, Barbet would play the most, Man City and Norwich to win each league, Rotherham would go down, we'd get 3 points against Brentford, Ball would get the most bookings and that West Brom would sack their manager first. Wow.
Most seasons the game has been won with 25 points - the most we've had before is 30.
MCM Hoop was 2nd with 35 and then Lurk, Rosco Bosco and myself all had 30 in equal 3rd.
Thanks to all of you who took part, it is always good fun looking back at this type of thing! We'll do it all over again near the end of July!
