Favourite (or not) Players

I like Dieng a lot,loads of enthusiasm and a good prospect 
Tom Carroll I don’t like that much as he’s simply not good enough most of the time
adhoma fantastic example of what a QPR player should be and dykes is a workhorse 
Bonne is another hard worker and I think dickie always seems to try too hard at times 

I think I like Kakay best at the moment, we may get some decent money for him one day....

Least fav Mark Hughes (I know but I'm having him anyway)

My all time favourite are Kevin Gallen, Marc Bircham, Ale Faurlin and Clint Hill.

Honourable mention to Jamie Mackie.

I was also absolutely gutted when Charlie Austin left, I loved him when he was with us. I feel if he'd stayed at QPR he'd have become a bonified legend of the club. A waste really, he can't even make the West Brom squad now.

A random one is Yun-Suk-Young. I thought he was amazing and should still be our left back now! I remember Gary Neville doing a Monday Night football analysis after a match about Yun and how good he was. But then we played Assou-Ekotto and Konchesky in front of him and he left without a trace. Criminal.

Sir Les was a beast when I first started following QPR but left before I could build up such an affection. Same with Taarabt - best player by far I've seen but didn't do enough for long enough to become a favourite. Favourite isn't always best.



As for the all time disliked players, apart from the obvious names, I could never take to Joey Barton (still annoys me that he lifted the play off trophy with Clint Hill). I don't think any player has made me as angry as Joel Lynch, I used to want to throttle him! Never used to like Armand Traore much either. The rest I didn't like much were all useless loans or players who weren't here long anyway.

I see this thread has morphed into a 'Past & Present' set of choices...

For the present side, jimjams makes a good point that all are doing their best and really that is sometimes all we can (and should) ask! That does not stop me from being maddened by seeing Kane (and Manning in the past) back off from the player about to cross. With Hamalainen when he did this it was inexperience causing poor judgement I think, but seasoned professionals like Kane... Like others posting I have a lot of time for Dieng, Kakay, Chair and BOS who have progressed well 'through the ranks'; and I admire what Ball and Amos achieved on and off the ball - plus what Cameron would have liked to do! My favourites though are Masterson (who I believe could become a great defender given the games), Willock (who is starting to show real class), and Adomah (who wishes he could still play like he did when we should have signed him).

Of the past: Favourites are Clint Hill (who epitomises what the QPR 'spirit' must be); Rob Green (for his saves); Andy Sinton (for his performances on the pitch and now afterwards); Bowles; and Marsh. Dislikes: Well I hate all the journeymen who were at the club not even to win their game for themselves (let alone the club) but there purely for the dosh. Like others, I disliked watching SWP play because you just knew that after beating that first or second defender, and the side was then committed to the attack, that he would either trip over or get the ball stolen from him and leave us wide open....

I find this question quite hard with our current squad. There are several who I quite like but no-one stands out. I like the fact that we have a lot of younger players with potential to develop. I like the fact that Albert is a fan who has come home. I have high hopes for some of the newer players like Willock, Dykes and Dickie.

Not much to dislike in our current squad either. Barbet and Wallace frustrate me at times but we don't have any passengers - everyone seems to play for the team and the manager. Our problems seem to be more about lack of quality than lack of effort.

I felt it was not worth setting a new thread just for this article, but it is certainly interesting to read and may well generate a few comments!
