*** Below is the original posting. Since the postponement we have moved up two places and gathered 19 points! Revised set of stats appear as a later post ***
What a difference a win makes! This morning looked so much brighter with all those QPR fans smiling!!
Well the treadmill carries on and brings us Gareth Ainsworth's Wycombe, who we drew with 1-1 in December. I think it would be true to say that Wycombe have managed a few upsets, but have suffered from a lack of quality within the squad. That does not mean QPR should be complacent (especially given our tendency to beat top sides and roll over for releagtion sides...), and we certainly need to prepare for what will be a physical game from them, coupled with breakaways. So here are the respective stats:
QPR 18th 24pts DDLDW -8GD
Wycombe 24th 15pts LDLWL -19GD
This is a game I feel where the midfield will be key. Control of upfield passes and winning tackles will be more important than ever as Wycombe try to dominate. A 3-5-2 formation seems likely for us. So who should be playing and who will Warburton actually select? Here is my preferred starting XI:
Dieng; Dickie Cameron Barbet;
BOS Ball Carroll Chair Willock;
Dykes Austin
I feel BOS is better suited to defending and attacking down the right wing, and is a far better option there than Kane. I have put Willock on the left wing because he works well with Carroll and Chair, but I could equally be persuaded it should be Hamalainen (who is tougher and a better header of the ball). At the end of the day it is all about giving better service to the front duo. In the middle against Luton Dominic ball was superb, so I am looking for him to continue in a similar vein. If you are reading this Mr Warburton - could you please leave Carroll on after 60 mins? I know Chair and Dykes have run themselves into the ground by then, but Carroll could carry on longer I am sure as we need his passing skills!
