QPR's FA Cup History.
*As of 2023/24 following our exit to Bournemouth*
I have created below a visual guide to our FA Cup record in the main draw proper, since we first made it back to the FA Cup main draw back in 1900.
I have also compiled a vast array of FA Cup stats.
Here is the full visual guide to our FA Cup History with some stats below:

I have created below a visual guide to our FA Cup record in the main draw proper, since we first made it back to the FA Cup main draw back in 1900.
I have also compiled a vast array of FA Cup stats.
- We first entered the FA Cup in 1895, losing to Old St. Stephens 1-0 in a replay in the 1st Qualifying Round.
- We made our main draw debut in 1900. After 6 qualifying round wins in late 1899 against London Welsh, Fulham, West Hampstead, Wandsworth, Civil Service & Luton (replay) we beat Wolves after a replay only to lose to Millwall in Round 2.
- We took another 5 years to make it to the main draw in 1905 and since then the only main draw missed was in the 1926/27 when the secretary failed to submit our entry.
Here is the full visual guide to our FA Cup History with some stats below:
General Stats:
- We have made 109 appearances in the main draw, contesting 210 ties
- Across all rounds we have only won 101 main draw matches
- Of those 101 wins, only 63 have been at the first time of asking. 38 wins were after a replay
- We lose quicker than we win - of our 109 defeats 81 were in the first match and only 28 were after a replay
- We have only won 7 FA Cup matches since the turn of the century
- We went 21 years without winning a tie without needing a replay between 1997 and 2018
- We have made 52 Round 3 exits, compared to 27 wins at that stage
- QPR entered in Round 3 for 34 years in a row prior to 2001
- We are currently on a run of 20 consecutive years joining the competition in Round 3
- We have a better record in Round 1, winning 32 compared to 18 defeats. The wins included a run of 11 straight 1st round wins in the 50's and 60's
- We haven't played in Round 2 of the FA Cup since 1966/67 - the season we won the League Cup
- We have made the Quarter Finals/Last 8 on 9 occasions, losing 8 times
- We haven't reached the Quarter Finals since 1995 - a run of 29 years and counting - which is already the longest run without making the Quarter Finals in the clubs history
- On the one occasion we made it to the semi finals in 1982 we of course went on to make our one and only FA Cup Final appearance, losing to Tottenham after a replay
- As of the end of 2023/24 we have only won 6 of our last 30 FA Cup ties
Team Stats:
- We have played against 106 different teams in the 210 FA Cup ties
- Our 101 wins have come against 74 different teams
- Our 109 defeats have come against 58 different teams
- We have neither won or lost against a team more than 4 times
- The team we have played the most is West Ham, with 7 ties played
- We have beaten West Ham 4 times, which is our equal best; we have also beaten Crystal Palace and Luton 4 times. We have never lost to Crystal Palace so that makes them our most successful opponent with 4 wins from 4.
- Our worst record is against Man United, Chelsea, Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest and Fulham with 4 defeats against each of them. In the cases of Man United, Forest and Fulham we have never returned the favour in the main draw - we have however beaten Fulham in qualifying rounds in the late 1800's.
- When we faced Spurs in the FA Cup Final in 1982 we had ironically been beaten by Spurs in the 3rd Round the year before - also after a replay.
- And the team we beat in the Semi Final on that run to the Final - West Brom - then knocked us out in the 3rd Round the following year
- Since our run to the FA Cup final as a Division 2 team we have not beaten a team from a division above us since (42 years and counting)
- Ian Holloway was QPR manager for over 300 games in 2 spells - but never won a FA Cup match with QPR
