If we had won on Saturday we would have moved up equal with Millwall on points, but it was not to be... Whilst we were losing to the Terriers, Millwall got a win against the Rooney Rams, and they have had a reasonable season.
So we have to pick up ourselves and focus instead upon our next opponents - 0h it's Millwall... A 7pm clash between two mid-table sides and a local rivalry to boot? I do not think an empty stadium will provide that feeling. This is just a match we want to win! Anyway, here are the stats:
QPR LLWWL 13th 46pts -5GD
Millwall DLWLW 10th 49pts +2GD
Whilst Millwall have moved a little towards skill, rather than brawn, they are still the sort of side that QPR struggles most against! We did not win so Waburton may well make changes, and areas that do seem to need addressing are the slow production of crosses and the lack of a striker. Our wing backs and outfield players are taking far too long to get in crosses. whether this is because of a lack of skill or waiting for someone to get in a decent position (or both) i do not know, but the result is the same - defences are in formation and ready to block or tackle when the ball is finally presented. When I say the lack of a striker what I am highlighting is the decision to play Austin deeper, with Willock & Chair actually ahead of him. If Austin had the legs of a gazelle then he could move quickly into the box from a deep position, but those days are gone; and the others in attack are not using their opportunities wisely. I believe this is because attacking midfielders and overlapping defenders are at heart not inclined to strike, but rather to pass the ball back or across. Warburton needs to address this. Here is my guess at the team:
Dieng
Dickie De Wijs Barbet
Kane Field Johansen Willock
Dykes Austin Chair
