So as we head into the final 10 games of the season I guess we need to start looking towards next season
Surely after the form in 2021 Warburton will be given an official new contract?
If Warburton takes charge on the opening day next season he will become only the 3rd QPR manager to be in charge on the opening day for 3 consecutive seasons in the last 30+ years
Only Gerry Francis and Ian Holloway (both in their first stints) have done it since 1990
I know some signings haven't worked out, but we have to look at the fact that when he joined we'd just released most of the high earners like Luongo and Bidwell and sold our key man Luke Freeman too. When we have to overhaul the whole squad and bring in so many new faces some won't work out.
We progressed to 13th last season and he then of course lost a once in a generation talent in Ebere Eze, lost Hugill and Wells and on top of that has lost Manning and BOS since the start of this season
And yet he has still kept the team moving forwards overall.
Yes the first half of this season wasn't pretty but he deserves credit for turning things around since the turn of the year.
The defence has improved dramatically from last season too.
He gets some stick for being tactically inept, but since Warburton took over we've won more points than any other team after falling behind. The manager has to take some credit for that, for making changes to get us back into games.
Do you want Warburton to stay?
Do you think he can keep us moving forwards for a third season?
