it just seems that some fans of ours are listening to much to social media about his least favourable attributes like pace but what he lacks in pace he makes up in IQ hes a brilliant layer best centre half weve had since Nedum Onouha

Rob Dickie is a good defender but his lack of pace and the fact he gets turned so easily means this is as good as it gets. Barbet is a much more consistent defender but like Dickie he can make a mistake.

I agree that the  Dickie goal was worthy of goal of the season.

I do agree that Mowatt was incredibly impressive against us and I'd love him. But 1) he will have many suitors 2) i can't believe I'm saying this but right now why would he leave Barnsley for QPR?

He will have lots of suitors but if Sir Les can't impress upon Mowatt that we are a more attractive proposition than Barnsley then we've had it. 

It's going to be the same for any quality player that we want to sign. We have to convince them that we are going to be serious challengers for promotion. If our board are serious about challenging then players like Mowatt are worth the risk because of the resale value. Whilst Johansen is a decent player  he would have little re-sale value for the lay out the club would need to make. 

Mowatt won't be staying at Barnsley because he has continued to refuse their contract offers. The only way he stays is if they get promoted (not impossible). Apparently he is on c.£6k/week at Barnsley and if we start by offering £8k/week then even if we have to go to £10k/week he would be a bargain. 

The issue would be if Sheffield Utd or another of the relegated teams fancy him then we will get priced out of the market.The hope has to be that the relegated teams haven't noticed him and the better Championship teams are already covered in that midfield role.

We need to be doing a Brentford and investing in proven quality players that even if the club doesn't achieve their target  they can still sell the player at a profit. 

If somebody like Johansen costs £2m and we put him on a £8k/week contract for 3 years his total cost is £3.25m, the fact that Mowatt is on a free means we could offer him a 5 year contract on £12k a week and it would  cost less at £3.12m in total. Seems a no brainer to me when you consider how much we have paid in fees and wages for a player like Bonne.

I can see several clubs also looking at their striker (Dikes) who has scored plenty of goals and is another that we should consider as a replacement for Charlie if he proves to want a kings ransom to stay.

QPR calendar year league wins:

2019 - 12 league wins
2020 - 11 league wins

2021 - 13 league wins

And still 225 days to go...


But looking bad how much did we have to endure the last 2 years. Jeez. A win a month was a good month.

Yup we are already 1 point up on what I expected for the three games, although it is Norwich next and they want to be crowned champions!
