Man City have officially withdrawn. It sounds like City and Chelsea joined to avoid being left behind and weren't involved in the formation of the idea.
I must admit I did not think they were the clubs that were in that position! I thought one of them would have been Tottenham....
Now that all 6 English clubs plus 3 of the European teams have withdrawn from the ESL following the supporter protests it shows just how badly the owners misread their fan base. The 6 English club owners now have their reputations in tatters. Going forward they will not be trusted by other clubs owners and it must be a real kick in the nuts to realise you are not as powerful as you thought.
I doubt that we have seen the last of a super league however, but I would think the next time it rears its head it will be a competition under the FIFA/UEFA banner.

I just hope the teams involved in the idea face some kind of punishment. They should be banned from entering european competition or something for a few years or docked points for next season.
It shouldn't just be a case of "we are sorry, we made a mistake" and it's all forgotten about.

I agree but the threat of legal action will probably ensure that does not happen...
