Stoke just sacked Micheal O'Neil... If anybody guessed that in our preseason predictions they must be pretty smart!
🤔
I just don't see why clubs do this. If they were unhappy with him they should have sacked him at the end of last season and given a new manager the summer to work on thw squad.
To only give him 5 league games this season is strange. Unless he had an amazing start it looks like he was a dead man walking.
But now a new manager has no transfer window to change things around, it just makes no sense.
With Sean Dyche hovering in the background it was probably just a case of who would jump for him first. Dyche might be a good fit for Stoke but whether he sees them as the club for him I doubt.
Neil is on a 1 year rolling contract at Sunderland, presumably on League 1 wages. Sunderland my have been stalling on offering him an improved contract after promotion.
Stoke are obviously in need of a good manger and are prepared to take a punt on Neil
I think it's a done deal and that Neil has now signed for Stoke.
It does seem strange but Sunderland have adopted a strategy and management system that is all data-driven and their boards decisions are made on those numbers. As Brentford have proved using data and algorithms works but they use them in conjunction with other factors and are not solely influenced by the figures.
I remember that after a couple of poor results last season they got rid of Lee Johnson despite being 3rd in the league. Its possible that Neil wasn't comfortable being measured against performance data and despite getting them promoted he felt threatened.
What are the odds that Neil will now be tabling a bid for Ross Stewart in the next few days.
Sunderland made a rod for their own backs They should of tied him down to a long term deal and now they are paying the price for not doing so Sean dyche would be a good replacement for them from Alex Neil

Not quite the Championship but Bournemouth have sacked Scott Parker after 4 games.
He's been very unlucky and it's harsh when you consider they have lost to City, Arsenal and Liverpool. What were the board hoping for from those games?
You do look at Bournemouth and wonder why we/anybody even bothers hoping to ever get promoted, losing 9-0 this weekend after a battering the week before, sacking the manager and all the "feelgood factor" gone by the end of August.
It's not much fun. I expect we will see Parker in an opposition dugout before the season is over.

I wonder if this is the opportunity that Sean Dyche has been waiting for.

Very harsh by the Bournmouth board! Dundee have sacked Ross too after their mauling by Celtic at the weekend....

Sounds like it is more to do with him moaning that they need more and better players. Apparently Bournemouth are looking to run a sustainable model.
