Well having watched the full 90 minutes I can see it was not 'a good day in the office' for the Rs! Hard to put your finger on major failures, more a combination of small mistakes. The wing backs were both a concern, with both working forward in possession but failing to deliver a cross or a dribble into the area; Austin was given poor service but fluffed the chances he did have; Willock was fouled so many times without any censure it was not true (including a good penalty call); and our CBs dithered rather than closing down Swift (who managed to do what Austin failed to do - turn and score). The introduction of Adomah and Gray was significant and productive as, coupled with a move to a more solid Back 4, there was more dynamic action. The huge positive was, at 3-1 down, this squad did not give up and fought their way back into the match. This is the mark of a promotion side!
For the first Reading goal Odubajo seemed to switch off and that allowed Swift run past him and slot home. Their 2nd goal was just as awful with Swift being left unmarked in the box and turning to hit one into the corner. I didnt think it could get any worse but the Reading 3rd goal was awful. I have no idea where Ball went but he left Odubajo to mark 2 men . As you would expect a simple pass between the 2 Reading men left Odubajo on his backside as the ball was passed across to Swift to get his 3rd.
Whilst the wing backs came in for a bit of flak on social media I don't think they were helped by the midfield who need to give them some better support.
