It was a mistake for sure and many of us said so at the time. Hughes and Redknapp were even bigger mistakes - not just their appointments but the freedom they were given with big money and no constraints. Who knows whether we’d have been relegated if NW had stayed. But we certainly wouldn’t be in our current mess financially. And who better to get us promoted again!
Redknapp a mistake? to some degree I agree but I had one of the best days out at the play off final and for that reason alone I wouldn't say it was a total mistake. (just letting him be free and loose with the money was a mistake :-))
Let's face it, the one player that kept us up at the end of that season was Cisse. Maybe it was a mistake sacking Warnock and bringing Hughes in, but that was the one Hughes signing that made a huge difference for us that season
It's for times like this we need a crystal ball to see what difference keeping Warnock would've made. Would we be in the position Burnley are in now under Dyche? Or would we be where Bolton are now and bouncing between the Championship and League One?

On this day 21 years ago on 11 January 1997 John Spencer scorer a hat-trick as the R's defeated Barnsley 3-1
An interesting fact is that at the time it was the first QPR hat-trick for over 13 years since Bradley Allen had scored 3 against Everton in November 1993.

On this day 33 years ago on 12 January 1985 QPR drew 2-2 with Spurs in a pulsating London derby, you can see the highlights below.
Gary Bannister hit both goals for the R's in front of 27,404 fans at Loftus Road, our highest home attendance between then and now and our highest league attendance in the last 40 years as a whole.

On this day 2 years ago QPR defeat Rotherham 3-0 away from home thanks to second half strikes from Hoilett, Phillips and Polter.
It may only be 2 years ago but the turnover of players has been quite incredible yet again since then.
The likes of Henry, Phillips, Fer, Hoilett, Polter, Chery, Angella, Sandro and Tozser were in the R's squad that day and have all moved on in the relatively short amount of time since that day.

Where on earth did they manage to pack in 27k of supporters? Loved the mullets on display on the field too!!

No seats makes a huge difference. I would love to see a safe standing area come back. More importantly where have the 27000 fans gone, we can't even get close to filling a smaller capacity stadium!
It wasn't the standing that was the problem It was the stupid fences they put up that in the end, that made us all realise standing was dangerous Hillsborough was a catalogue of errors and back then there wasn't the cctv technology we have now and other security measures If you did a vote on sitting or standing a lot of us would love to stand again but you have to consider the older fans and the families etc and disabled fans A standing area would be great, the atmosphere at some grounds is like a library The big grounds also are killing the vibe, west ham since leaving Upton Park for example is flat as a pancake and too far away from the pitch I prefer the smaller grounds and always will remember My first game my dad took me to was against Bristol rovers he managed to lose me and my brother and a lady copper returned us to him,but it was all standing and best day of my life
I am as puzzled as you surrey chad re the missing fans. The club is pushing for a a more modern stadium but also bigger. the figure of 30,000 capacity now seems a little optimistic but you do have to plan for the future (look at Brighton for an example of that). I also agree with you and @singlespeed re having at least some standing area as it can only bring in more fans with cheaper prices. Modern safety practises are light years away from the horrors of Hillsborough, and should be reintroduced in a smaller way. Those fans get used to coming along to support the Rs, and eventually they will migrate to the seated areas as age/wealth or both changes them. My idea would be to place the standing areas close to the four corners of the pitch. There they would generate encouragement for the fans seated on either side of them! On this day 14 years ago on 17 January 2004 QPR defeated Brighton 2-1 at Loftus Road
Martin Rowlands opening goal is well worth watching back below, after a smart turn on the half way line he runs at the Brighton defence who back off and he bends a beauty into the far corner. Great goal.
Kevin Gallen added the second QPR goal before half time with a smart finish when through on goal.
This was the R's 4th win in a row as we headed towards promotion.

We are going far back in time to 18 January 1958, 60 years ago today, when QPR defeated Southampton 3-2
2 goals from Arthur Longbottom and a Pat Woods penalty sealed the 3 points for the hoops.
It was a win that broke a run of 6 consecutive 1-1 draws in the previous half dozen games, I can't imagine that has happened at any other time in our history?
The crowd was just 8611 for this Division 3 South fixture.
The R's finished the season in 10th for the second consecutive season.
