This is well worth a read. Honest assessment of the situation. Makes a very good point though about the clubs who get hurt by these rules being smaller clubs. The big clubs get bigger whilst we get hammered for trying to join the party.
Good, balanced article! The application of FFP still hurts and angers me. I have a mate who has supported Man City through all the divisions they have been in, and he is embarrassed by the way Man City is able to buy its way out of problems and into becoming the great club it now is. It is obvious to all but the most stupid Football League administrator that FFP was badly constructed and applied (hence why it was changed) but rather than admit their error they seem determined to punish a club's idiocy by an extortionate fine!
Now the hysteria has died down I want to add my bit. It seems we are still along way from a resolution to this. But I think we are not looking at really why we got into this situation. We tend to blame either HUGHES or ARRY. Yes they state the players they want and then the negotiations are handed over to the money men. That was at the time MR BEARED who then agrees fee's and wages contract lengths and agents fee's. When we brought in SIR LES he decided to resign apparently. When ARRY arrived he told us how players were on ridiculous money and long contracts. Which he could do nothing about. MR HOOS was given the job of clearing up the mess. Which he is doing well I think. The fine will not be anythink like the amounts quoted but we will find out in about 18months.

Harry said this week again "I'm not to blame", but he signed Remy and Jenas before relegation who would have been on big money.
Then he added Dunne, Simpson, Assou-Ekotto, Carroll, Krancjar, Henry and O'Neill in the summer.
We then had internationals brought in to mostly sit on the bench (Chevanton, Onyewu, Benayoun) plus lets not forget he signed Austin and Phillips on big money with big fees.
Then in January he added THREE strikers to cover Austin (Doyle, Keane, Maiga) and got in Ravel too.
He certainly did not help at all. The issue is the wage bill in the promotion season and Harry player a huge part in that.
Agree that Beard sanctioned the moves, but Harry was a key component in the mess created. Far too many players signed.
I agree he did sign those stated but he felt he needed them and those we had previously signed were not suitable. Am not trying to exonerate any manager including NW MH and HR. Fees and wages were not his domain. That was the down to the CEOs job.
When you see director's like TF and THE MITTAL FAMILY soak up debts of £190m. You know they are not doing a runner. MR HOOS said at the fans forum that move was unprecedented in football. Normally as in the case of MAN UTD loans were taken out. We should be thankful before we throw insults at our board. Which thankfully does not happen on this site.
