Dave McIntyre in today's WLS reports that R’s boss Mick Beale is planning to make at least two and potentially as many as five signings as the end of the transfer window approaches.
He wants to strengthen the entire spine of the team – attack, central midfield and central defence – and the club might well also sign another back-up goalkeeper.
Apparently, central defender Leon Balogun who has recently been released by Rangers is a player he's considering.
Personally, I also believe we need another left back but it's no surprise to hear that Beale seems to be concerned with the Field/Johansen partnership and our lack of a goal scorer. I said on this months Podcast that I believe Beale wants to move to a back three and trying to sign another central defender seems to confirm this.

I'm glad to hear this because it reinforces why people have been too quick to criticise Beale; he will have seen the same issues as us and needs time to fix the squad.
However, why are we now being linked with 34 year old players when we were meant to be letting Beale develop younger players?
We literally let Barbet and Wallace go because they had no "resale value".
It sounds a bit too me like because pressure grows so quickly in football he knows he needs results now. He can't afford to lose the next few games as his head will be on the block. That in itself is wrong, but it's the modern game and so he is obviously trying to just improve the squad however he can to get results.
Until managers are guaranteed a full season to do their job this short term fix mentality won't go away.
I'm glad he knows we need to improve, but don't like the departure from who we are supposed to be signing.

from hearing he (beale) possibly wont be signing anyone else over the past few weeks to what Dave Mac says is saying here is a massive difference and yes was the reason we criticised (do you blame us for being concerned? i dont) you cant go into this season with what he has at present
i think 5 players coming in is optimistic at best myself i agree we could do with a new back up keeper but cant see it with the funds he has available think with the money spent in the past too getting another midfielder in is extremley optimistic and a little naive.
i can see at least 1 defender (perhaps Balogun that can play all 4 positions) and 2 strikers coming in minimum.
if he does get those 3 across the line and the unthinkable actually happens and he does get a back up keeper along with a new midfielder i think my words of getting more of a backbone may have come true and if this is indeed true well done Mr Beale. good luck to him if i see players coming in that make the squad stronger good luck
but at this time of writing this the squad is definatley not as strong as the one he took over from MW everyone knows this that supports this club so when you hear the words we probably wont be bringing in another striker before the window surely were allowed to be concerned he chose to say the words in an interview so we should applaud or criticise what we hear.
if he did go in this whole season with what he has then yes we can criticise and trust me i will be if this squad isn't fixed and after over 30 years of support i think im entitled to my opinions.
lets hope the departures of Niko H, Thomas, Archer and Macauley Bonne come at the same time 4 players that offer the squad nothing.
would love to put the names forward of Dozzell and Dykes too but unfortunaltley i think they have a part to play at the minute but i already know they wont ammount to anything other than what they already are.
It seems from reports in WLS that along with several other culbs we are interested in signing striker Cameron Archer from Villa they also report we are interested in Cameron's team mate, Tim Iroegbunam whose a midfielder.
Beale knows both players from his time at Villa and that signing tne two Villa men would pave the way for Macauley Bonne to move on, while George Thomas is being lined up for a departure as well.
Well I hope you guys are all ready for one of our best players to leave because no way 5 new players come in without us getting some money from the sale of somebody good
as we are bang in need of strengthening especially strikers obviously i would rather keep hold of our better players but if i were beale the option would be between Willock and Chair as we have Tyler Roberts too we can just about afford to lose one of them 2
As the hours count away to the end of the transfer window so the rumour mill hots up. This time last season it was mentioned that Joe Bryan might be joining and his name is being mentioned again.
Hamalianen doesn't offer any real competition to Paal but Bryan would and in this league he'd be a good addition.

Securing Bryan for the right deal would be great, and it would make for a fierce rivalry to start at LWB or LB.
Talking to Capital Football Mick Beale said we are in discussions with multiple players.
He said: “There’s one or two players we are talking to. It never moves as fast as you want, but I'm hopeful that we'll have at least one new face, maybe two by 11 o’clock on Thursday.
“We need to bring starters in. If they’re going to come in, they have to make us stronger.”
