If we are to believe Wikipedia then they say that Tyler Roberts is a versatile forward who can play as a striker, winger or as an attacking midfielder.
I’ve watched Leeds regularly for years (got an Uncle that’s a White) and I can tell you that I have never seen him play wide. Never seen him play there for Wales either. It’s telling too that last year at the Euro’s he was never even in the conversation to start up top. The chat was either Kieffer Moore or Ramsey/Bale as a false 9 — tells you a lot about his credentials as a front man leading the line.

The suggestion he was also a winger may stem from a loan spell he had as a 17yo. According to the Oxford Mail, Roberts was loaned to Oxford United from WBA and they played him as a wide man when they suffered an injury to a player called Rob Hall.
It doesnt say how many games he played out wide and I would think it may have been very few and thats probably where Wikipedia got their info.
Looking beyond the question of his ability and experience on the wing - can he do the business in the goal area? Despite Sir Les' abilities as a forward, I do not think we have been that successful in selecting very good players up front in the last few season. (so, having said all that, it is no great surprise he comes on a season's loan!)
What I like about this kid he seems a bit cocky and full of himself and that’s not a bad thing Let’s hope he full of it when it comes to playing for us and has a lot of confidence on the pitch
I’m sure I’ve read it’s 9 goals in 51 at this level for him which is… 😬😬😬 it’s not as bad as George Thomas, who for someone who is allegedly an ‘attacker’ has only got 8 goals in his entire career. But it isn’t exactly captivating is it 🤷♂️

I am assuming he is either going to take the #9 role (if Dykes is unavailable) or #10 role (if we play two up front)? Either way, he will be more a striker than George Thomas is, and his goals per minutes played ratio is poor. I can only hope he comes with a hunger to do well and to score goals!

His goal ratio is a bit of a concern for somebody who says he loves to play as a striker. 1 or 2 a season seems to be his average.
I keep forgetting about George Thomas! I actually don't mind him and his energy but whenever I think of a starting 11 I genuinely forget to consider him!
I think we need to see the lad play and only then judge just how good or poor he might be. If he doesn't step up and score or get assists all we have lost is a loan fee and wages. Sometimes loan deals work and sometimes you end up with a Jack Clarke or a Tomer Hemed.
According to Transfer Market.co.uk Tyler Roberts has played in 205 games (Premier League, Championship, League 1, Premiership B League, FA Cup, League Cup and League Trophy) scoring 31 goals and getting 23 assists. It seems he rarely played full games and many of those appearances were as a sub so his goal/assist ratio per minute played could be better than his goal/assist per match played currently shows.
The Crawley game he seemed more in the ten role switching with Chair.
Some very cute touches and sees a pass and makes mind up quickly.
Would from what I saw more of a link man supporting or replacing either Chair and or Willock and with five subs seems from first impressions a good addition.
Did not get a chance as far as I could see but if stats anything to go by and then he not the number nine at all and we still need at least one other, i feel.

Ha - I was just about to say the same! Rather than him supporting Dykes at Crawley it was him in the #9 role, with Chair and Dykes supporting him. The other point I was going to make was that both Paal and Roberts both attracted attention from the ref because of their aggressive tackling. I just hope this was them trying too hard to impress, rather than a pattern that continues throughout the season (with loads of yellow and red cards)...
WLS reporting that Tyler Roberts has revealed he will need to spend more time on the sidelines after experiencing a setback in his recovery from a calf problem.
His goal at Reading showed the quality he possesses but he clearly doesn't want to be here and I suspect he hates us for him getting injured and missing the world cup - not that he would have featured anyway.
