I am sure that many or even most have spotted that this game has a new name this year. That is because we’ve made a few changes.
The idea is:
- To make it even easier to enter
- To make the scoring more intuitive
- To keep the interest going for longer for those not at the very top of the table.
So welcome to Home and Away.
Each week I’ll select a list of 10 matches, generally from the Premier League and the Championship. Your challenge is to pick one home winner and one away winner. And that’s all there is to it.
The scoring is pretty simple too.
- If both your picks win you score 3 points (i.e. a win)
- If one of your picks wins you score 1 point (i.e. a draw)
- If neither wins you score 0 points (i.e. a loss)
Goal difference will separate players equal on points:
- First we’ll look for the player with the higher number of winning teams picked across the season.
- Next we’ll look for the lowest number of losing teams picked across the season.
- Finally we’ll look at the aggregate goal difference achieved by all the teams picked across the season.
The league will last for 30 rounds (approximately). After that the eventual champion will be decided by play-offs, like in Rugby League. The top 8 will be involved using the scheme below. The higher you finish, the shorter your route to the Grand Final.
So here are the 10 matches for week 1.
Blackpool v Reading
Cardiff v Norwich
Hull v Bristol City
Millwall v Stoke
Rotherham v Swansea
Wigan v Preston
Middlesbrough v West Brom
Sunderland v Coventry
Derby v Oxford
Sheff Wed v Portsmouth
All I need is one home team and one away team that you think will win.
Entries by 1pm on Saturday 30th July.
Good luck & enjoy!
