I think it's inevitable we will be linked with anybody and everybody who is available and has worked with Beale previously.
May be that is a stat you could produce after the close season finishes: What was the total number of names mentioned that QPR were going for v. actual signed.....

It will be very low. It's too easy these days for people to make stuff up as 'clickbait'
I'd you think back to last summer nobody linked us to Jimmy Dunne before he signed, nor Sam McCallum.
The stories that are true tend to come out only right before an official deal once the likes of Dave Mc learn about them. Other than that I rarely listen to the rumours.
Lots of people not happy about this but I dont see what the problem would be as long as he is on an low (ish) salary, I know we need to develop but the odd old head must help.
It seems strange that after letting the very reliable Yoann Barbet (29yo) leave we are now in the market for a 34yo.
When he was with us Barbet was apparently on £11.5k/week and that compares favourably with Balogun who was supposedly on £14k/week at Rangers. Keeping 27yo Jordy de Wijs would have been even cheaper because his salary was around the £8k/week mark.
Do we expect him to start? Undecided. But certainly a vote of no confidence in Masterson. Right-sided centre back so will likely be back up for Dickie, who could well get a transfer between now and end of the window.
On the other two we’re being linked with on loan. Archer is a goalscorer, but most came in a 2 last season so would be interesting to see how he would fare playing alone up top. Tim Iroegbunam would be a vote of no confidence in Johansen and possibly Dozzell given that he is a sitting midfielder. Many on here know my position on loaning players from PL clubs so I won’t reiterate it again. 🤷♂️
There seems an element of Beale painting himself into a corner on this one. Barbet was allowed to go when we all thought he should stay, and this is indicating Masterson is regarded as back-up CB behind him? We will need another CB as injuries and suspensions kick-in, so I understand the need - but at what price?
Barbet departure makes no sense even more now but im not against this move as we need numbers
i would if i could turn myself into being Marty McFlys nutty friend Doc "great Scott" professor and try and go back and change Beales mind and the decision to sign JCS and release Barbet but as we know im no Steven Spielberg so that cant happen.
just Beales way of trying to fill over a great big mistake so im not against this move at all
I understand the Barbet point, and though I don’t necessarily disagree with it, it is important to note that Balogun does play on the other side of the defence. So it’s not a case of him being brought in to replace Yoann. I do though agree that surely it would’ve been better to keep Barbet and there are questions over the financing and hypocrisy yet again that our club exists to ‘develop young players’. But an expensive one-year deal is less burdensome for the club than an expensive three-year one that we’d have been locked into with Barbet. That said, I concur with the points above, I’d have kept Barbet too.
The Iroegbunam one concerns me as it immediately blocks Bettache, who could perform that role that he would be brought in to do. I also think it’s depressing that we could go to a game this season and have half the team full of loanees.

It's not a bad signing and he was a regular for Rangers last season but it just goes against everything Beale and the club were saying a month ago.
I wonder if Beale is now desperate to play 3 at the back and therefore needed more options with JCS injury prone and Gubbins/Masterson not proving themselves. Hence Balogun comes in.

I think this is key initially he was looking at two at the back but will now switch to three.
