Friday's games have all been postponed but as yet they haven't said anything about Saturday's matches. I'd be amazed if any Premiership or League games are played though.
Almost a certainty that every sporting event will be stopped.
Agree with NW... That would be a huge mistake... Unless you're going to close down the nation completely how can you justify closing down just parts of it?
Sorry but a 2 minute silence and a black armband wouldn’t be very much respect from football She is on all our stamps and currency, respresented our country and many others for all our life’s She is sang in our national anthem sang before international football matches She isn’t a football manager or ordinary person that’s died and deserves a bit more respect Yes life carries on but the queen wasn’t just anyone and a very sad time for this country

So we can go to work, go to school, go and get drunk in the pub, go to a wedding, pretty much do anything apart from go and watch sport?
I don't find it disrespectful at all to go ahead with the matches. If anything it will bring people together to be able to show their respect for her.
Either shut down the whole country or don't.
I wouldn't be happy if I'd spent hundreds of pounds on trains for this match and then they call it off, because the trains would run but the match won't go ahead so you wouldn't get a refund. Bizarre.
Yeah she’s only the queen hey Maybe they shouldn’t interrupt sports events, I’m saying she is just a bit more important than the average 2 minute silence and a black armband we give old players that have died My missus cancelled her strike for the Royal Mail today in respect for the queen and that could affect me and missus future finances but they done it out of respect as it had royal links

I honestly don't understand it.
Normal day today.... can't play football tomorrow. Makes sense.
Think of all the temporary staff employed at grounds who will now get no work. All the caterers and security staff etc. They will be out of pocket, as will fans who have paid for advanced train fares and hotels.
I think there would have been a lovely, united atmosphere at stadiums tomorrow. They could have played the national anthem and created images to go around the world of a respectful country.
Judging by the responses the club is getting a lot of fans are very unhappy.
I don't disagree with Single or others who make the point that this is a very significant event.
I do though think this is an opportunity missed in terms of giving people and communities a further opportunity to pay their respects and make tributes to the Queen in a public setting.
And I think the PL and EFL have made a rod for their own back now because you'd think they now have to cancel the midweek and next weekends matches because we will still be in the period of mourning that will not end until after her funeral on the 19th
Also is shutting things down really honoring her? I wonder what she would have wanted us all to do?

There was no protocol to have to postpone matches, so the EFL and Premier League have made this decision themselves.
Our next 2 matches are in London (Millwall A - Stoke H) so you'd think our matches are at even more risk of being called off due to police being required to man the events taking place and crowd control as people descend on the capital. Even if they don't fall on the funeral day I think matches in London aren't going to happen now.
This is already a congested season with the World Cup and we are potentially going to have these 3 matches to fit in midweek somewhere. If we don't play the next 2 matches we then have the international break so won't have played from 3rd September to 1st October.
They should have played tomorrow and if they really had the need to postpone something they should have done it on the funeral weekend or something.
I am with singlespeed. Football needs to do more to mark the death of the head of state. I am by no means a royalist but in most other countries the entertainment industries would close down for a time as a mark of respect. She was a great statesperson and loved and respected by a large portion of the county
Perhaps not to cancel any sports but not to Televise them. Only big TV stations would lose out or possibly that would be pass down to the clubs
I agree with Singlespeed too. This is about respect. The country should not be seen to be enjoying mass entertainment during an official period of mourning. Out of interest, all bookings at my local school's 3G pitches have also been cancelled. It is the right thing to do.
Talking of the right thing to do, the following is a sad piece to read about a ex-QPR player I did admire:
Former West Ham and QPR star Trevor Sinclair is being investigated by talkSport after saying that 'black and brown' people should not mourn the Queen's death.
Sinclair, who played more than 300 games for the two London clubs from 1993 to 2003, is being investigated by the radio company, where he works as a football commentator, after tweeting shortly after the monarch's death was announced that racism in the UK had 'thrived' during her long reign. Sporting stars across the globe paid tribute to the Queen, who died yesterday at the age of 96 at Balmoral, but Sinclair tweeted: "Racism was outlawed in England in the 60's & it's been allowed to thrive so why should black and brown mourn!!"
