Where they went wrong was not selling a few players last summer after the gamble of Austin and co didn't pay off, would have been very unpopular at the time with fans but kicking the can down the road for a year has proved to be a big mistake The plan/strategy they had was fine, again they haven't stuck to it though and thats proved costly.
Willocks injury last season came at a bad time and probably cut down any interest in him, as well as some bad mistakes I think the club have also been a bit unlucky with a few things. Dieng as well if he doesn't get that injury last season probably gets a move last summer
The club have perhaps been unlucky but now all these "sellable" players - Willock, Dieng, Dykes, Dickie, Chair - are much nearer the end of their contracts and so not only has their form hit their potential values, but the club are in a much weaker position now this summer if anybody does come forward with an offer.
Add that to the fact the clubs finances being publishes means any club coming to us with a bid knows we are desperate to get some money in and that will also make it harder for us.

Agree 100%. It made total sense to go for it to try for promotion last season the way we were going. But when we missed out we surely needed to cut costs rather than bring in all of Beale’s wasters.
