Just having Dykes back and training could be a huge boost for the squad. I doubt that we might see him anytime soon as he builds up his strength but just having him around could generate some inspiration in his team mates.
Archer and Akpom will be licking their lips knowing that our only fit central defenders are the ponderous Dickie and Dunne. It wont help our cause that its likely we could also have to include Kakay and Dozzell.
Critchley knows that he almost certainly has nothing to lose in respect of this game because we are huge underdogs to even get a point and we have got to do something different.
If Critchley doesnt change things then defeat is a certainty and knowing that the owners could already be lining up a replacement it will be interesting to see what he tries with the limited players we have.
Knowing Albert has played as a wing back previously I think Critchley will go with 3 centre backs and play 3-5-2.
Dieng Kakay, Dickie, Dunne Adomah, Field, Chair, Johansen,Paal Lowe Martin
I don’t think he can play a back three stoatey as Boro’s wider players will roast Dunne on the outside and I don’t trust Dickie up against Archer 1-on-1 in the middle. I don’t know what alternative he has, because I think a back three would at least be a change and might tighten things. I also wouldn’t rule out Aaron Drewe playing at wing-back as I’m not sure Adomah can do 60-70 minutes anymore.
If you were asking me today I honestly think we’ll get relegated. Can’t score more than 1 in a game. The lineup against Sunderland had 13 goals between them in it, nobody above 4 league goals. And with our defence we’re going to concede in every game from now until the end. I think we’ll go down with 44 points.
I did think of Aaron Drewe and he is certainly a possibility. I also considered moving Field into a Central Defender role alongside Dickie and Dunne to try and add a bit more manouveraability into the backline but then we lose our current best defensive midfielder.
The trouble for Critchley is that he knows if he doesn't make some changes to plug the holes in defence then defeat is inevitable.
I know we have been desperate in recent weeks but I really hope that we can get more than 5 points from our remaining games although it could be difficult.
