I've managed to watch the extended highlights whilst sunning myself and drinking too much alcohol in beautiful Cyprus. It was a tremendous battling performance but defensively we are awful although it's a huge 3 points.
It looked as though we couldn't get out of our own box for long periods and its that type of game where Dickie thrives. As long as nobody is running at him or making him twist or turn he looks a rock at the back.
Chris Martin's 4 goals have proven to be invaluable since he arrived and like Dickie if he's not asked to chase or run he does a job.
I really hope that Sinclair Armstrong scores in the next couple of games because he's a real rough diamond who scares the pants off the opposition. Ideally, we are safe after the Stoke game and Sinclair scores against Bristol to lift the roof off the home stand.
I’d echo stoatey here on his comments about Dickie and Chris Martin in particular. That signing looked desperate when it happened, the kind of ‘get one in just for the sake of it’. But if we survive, the role he’s played has been enormous. There’s a growing ageism in this game whereby if you’re over 28 you’re practically dead, everyone wants a shiny 20 year-old who can be sold for X million, but the likes of Martin are invaluable in squads. Not technically great, not even physically fit, but canny, committed and experienced and that’s added a huge amount to an otherwise leaderless group of arrogant, immature and ineffective nobody’s. Fancy he’s probably played himself into a one year deal for next season. Ainsworth’s new Akinfenwa?

I am prepared to admit I did not want Martin and was hugely underwhelmed by his performances in the past but, as I commented during the match - I actually saw Martin sprinting! So I was wrong. He can do more than jog, and now we know he can still get 4 goals out of all his appearances..... We need a lot, lot more from him though! (I could say much the same about Lowe, Sinclair and Willock of course...) This 'backs against the wall' defending did suit Dickie (even if not my heart) as he could focus upon the ball a lot more. Meanwhile, let's enjoy the glow from Saturday!
its not rubbing it in peoples faces about martin,i certainly am not trying to that we all was saying why was we taking this donkey on and how desperate had we got but 4 goals in 14 games is not a bad return and more than willock and chair have got in that time hes a ainsworth type player who he knows will fire up this deflated group of players if we stay up,we will have to say martin did in some way help us do that
if our other strikers scored some goals we wouldnt of had of got him in and be in relegation trouble like we are now
That's the major issue with the Martin signing... The club has become a mess. How did we end up starting the season with just Dykes and Bonne as strikers? Then when Dykes got ill how come we have no youngster capable of stepping up for a few games? The likes of Les always talk about youth development being key for QPR and then we have to drag Chris Martin out of the pie shop to play long ball with for the remainder of the season. Martin has arguably done his bit, fair enough, but the whole signing him in the first place and then changing how we play because of him is a shambles.
Also the fact he now comes across as a good pro/character compared to the majority of the squad and has been made Captain is another indicator what a shambles QPR have become.
If we keep him the club has learnt nothing. He's done what we needed, scored an important goal, chugged about a lot, now part ways and we will always have the Burnley memories.

Northwest I appreciate you running this site in your own time And everyone’s opinions on here But this season I have hated and how low we’ve had to go to try and stay in this division Yes Martin would of got nowhere near loftus road in normal circumstances and I want players like Sinclair Armstrong to be our main striker A young talented fast player not a overweight has been who wasn’t that good when he was younger The guy is trying his best to help us stay up to be fair to him He don’t deserve another year,we need to move on and refresh the squad completely no matter what league we are in But relying on other teams points deduction is the lowest of low to stay in the championship

Absolutely, I just hope we can beat Stoke and at least stay up the right way. If we can get 4-6 points from the last 2 games it will send everybody into the summer a lot happier with a good atmosphere at both games, because the last few months have been painful and a real grind for everybody.
Rob Dickie is on open all R's this week if you want to hear a bit more from him.
Yes I heard that podcast and he was very honest and open about this season's problems. I have to say though that I find their podcasts too self-indulgent and too long as a result! I think it is easier with less people and less interruptions!!
