I have no more idea than anyone else about what’s going on and whether we’ll manage to stay up this season. But here’s a complete guess at GA’s plan.
Make us hard to beat = solid at the back and hard-working throughout the team. Be a counter-attacking team = quick offensive players.
I’m thinking something like 4-2-3-1. 4 at the back. 2 defensive midfield to screen them = Field + 1 (rumours of Scowen?) Pacy and hopefully skilful 3 (rumours of Smyth?) Big but mobile CF
I could live with that sort of approach. What does everyone else think?
I'm expecting more draws than usual and a few games where we get slaughtered but I also think we're going to have quite a few surprise victories like we did against Burnley and our fair share of one nil wins
After so much talk over the last 10 years of getting "the right sort" in I believe this is the season where it actually starts happen.
We just have to be happy to survive? That's not going to get the crowds in this season is it.
Rumours of resigning players like Smyth and Scowen - deemed not good enough years ago - is just totally depressing in my opinion.
For me football is all about the hope and expectation and dreaming of achieving something. So the idea that we just have to accept we are going to be rubbish and struggling this season and signing anybody who is dirt cheap or just desperate enough to sign on the dotted line is *insert swear words here*
what the hell has given the club this different outlook now this time last year we had a young manager with big ideas who was taking us places we a had a good balanced side who were playing some nice football now we got the prospect of a load of rejects and a 36 year old playing up front we will now be looking at the bottom 3 all season and wondering if we can keep out of it

I'm with you on this one northwesthoop. Signing Smyth and or Scowen makes no sense whatsoever especially when there are better players available.
We can sack managers and we can replace the DoF but nothing will change until the club changes owners and gets a football strategy in place. West Ham Tony and Liverpool Ruben admitted (interview with Malaysian Tatler) that when they bought QPR they "came in as investors, with the mindset to improve its value". Well that certainly hasnt worked. They've wasted the clubs income and whilst they are willing to use fans money to buy a new training ground they don't want to invest any of their own money into building a new stadium.
After completely messing up the clubs finances Tony now seems totally uninterested and both Ruben and Amit have got their hands tied because they are just fronts for the real owners who are a billionaire but uninterested father and a multi billionaire but uninterested father in law who both have little interest in football but expected to make some money.
We are now in a position where our only big asset remains the land that the crumbling Loftus Road stadium stands on.
if this is the attitute the club has this season then we should of just forgot our lucky win at burnley and swallowed a relegation we dont even look equipped for league one at the moment

I think our only hope is somebody from the middle East likes the training ground and wants to buy the club and just ignores FFP and we buy success or something.
This idea we now have to do housekeeping for a few years to stay within FFP and try and survive is a massive turn off.
It's not like we went crazy, we just put a bit more money into wages for Austin/Johansen etc. Now we have to have years of nothing.
ainsworth is a massive turn off for players too only average ex QPR and wycombe players will bother coming back here there are some decent free agents out there like that lad from rotherham people were pointing out yesterday even to finish 4th from bottom this team will need to be half decent there are some damn good players and squads this season coming into this league and some that are already in it
NW would you be excited by 68 points and 9th place which is the highest we've finished in all the others seasons since relegation?
You know, all those exciting seasons?
I'll bet you £10 to a charity of your choice that we get over 65 points... So 66 or above... That exciting enough?
jimjams I really love your enthusiasm! Whilst all of the rest of us are wondering who will score goals this season you have the optimism to think BIG!!

Those last few seasons were exciting at times, we had some hope (albeit false hope) we could actually achieve something. The start of the seasons at least we went in dreaming the impossible. We had ups and downs and played some good stuff.
Now we are just having to accept survival is good enough? The 'dream' is 21st place according to all the people at the club apparently. To me being happy to get 21st next season is not exciting at all.
I'll be flabbergasted if we get over 66 points this season. I'll be happy to eat my words.
Chair, Willock, Dykes etc could all still leave and we are struggling to put a team together as it is right now.
Ainsworth I have no doubt will get us a team that runs and chases and works hard but at this level that won't get you 66 points.
