Hoops & Dreams Prediction Cup 17/18
Welcome to a trial Prediction Cup, this is extremely simple, free and easy to play along with so do join in. It won't take you more than 2 minutes to submit your entries once you have read the rules.
If you have taken part in our full season QPR Prediction Competition this is completely separate and will not influence the points gained in that.
If you are a new player or new member of the site feel free to play along, just make sure you can commit to playing in all of the 5 possible rounds in this Cup should you make it that far as Round 2 onwards are head to head clashes.
If you are not already a member of the forum you will need to register to play for free by clicking here: Register For Hoops & Dreams
We are running this initial trial using FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League matches left over the coming weeks then we will run a World Cup Prediction Competition in the summer.
Next season the intention would be to do a Prediction Cup for the League Cup and FA Cup. These would be predicting the QPR matches in each cup until we go out, then based on the bigger matches in each round thereafter.
The format of our Prediction Cups will be as follows:
Round 1: Everybody enters (open to anybody) with just the top 16 scorers going through to Round 2.
Round 2: 16 players drawn into 8 matches and the winner in each pair goes through
Round 3: 8 players drawn into 4 matches as above
Round 4: 4 players drawn into 2 matches
Round 5 - final of the remaining 2 players
The Scoring:
This is slightly different to our regular Predictions for the league which is based primarily around the QPR match.
Round 1 will focus on all 4 FA Cup matches that are taking place this Saturday 17 February to gain a greater spread of the scoring.
Round 2 to the Final will be decided as we go along whether they are based on 1 match or more, this will be made clear when each round is announced.
To make everybody aware now, Round 2 will be running next week based on the League Cup final.
Here is how Round 1 will score:
You simply predict the score of each of the 4 matches listed below. You get 6 points for the correct score, 3 points for a correct result.
For each of the 4 matches you also predict a first goal time from 6 time brackets with 3 points awarded if you are correct.
As a form of goal difference you also need to predict how many bookings will occur in all 4 games as a total. The more wrong you are, the more points added to your goal difference. The aim is to be as close as possible... the lower your goal difference the better. This will be used to separate any joint scores and will carry over throughout the competition.
That is it, simple to play, hard to be correct! 36 points is the maximum score in Round 1.
To take part follow these steps:
* Just copy the section below between the dotted lines
* Click 'reply' anywhere on this page
* Enter your predicted scores for all 4 matches AND select 1 bracket for the first goal time for each match out of the six available.
* Click 'Create Post'.
Just do please make sure you can continue to play for the rest of the cup before entering (please don't enter if you are likely to leave us hanging in later rounds!)
