He might have been a very experienced player but this is all down to who you know rather than what you know. He will no doubt have first choice on loaning many of Chelsea's young prospects. It wouldn't surprise me if he also signs his old mate John Terry!

They are have obviously gone down the Rangers route of thinking that by appointing a globally known name as manager they can attract "star"/"bigger" players.
I heard the Derby chairman, Mel Morris say that they also have FFP constraints. Maybe this is the reason that Rowett left? The fact that Lampard has links to loaning Chelsea's young prospects will certainly be an advantage if Derby start to offload some of their high earners. Although as we have found, the high earners don't want to go unless somebody else is going to pay their wages!

Got to question whether the extra attendance figures will still be there if he struggles. Why did he not look to cut his teeth by bringing up a League One side into the Championship?

Conte is set to leave Chelsea.
Slightly strange timing to wait until 4 weeks before the new season, letting him start pre-season training! I thought this was inevitable at the end of last season but assumed he was staying as the weeks went by.
