WLS report we are about to sign another goalkeeper., Joe Walsh is 18 and from Gillingham, the fee is £500k
Whilst Lumley is obviously off in the summer and Barnes is also out of contract this summer it seems strange to shell out half a million on a young 18yo goalkeeper.
I just don't see that our priority right now is another young goalkeeper. Any money that we have should be directed towards a left back.
Warburton has now confirmed that his arrival is very soon.
Hopefully, they now go out and get a decent left back/left wing back. The left back position is the weakest link in a team of weak links, we all know this, our opposition know this but our manager prefers signing goalkeepers and midfielders.
I had to go back a long way to find this thread....
Joe has joined Accrington Stanley on an emergency loan, initially for 7 days, to cover for both their goalies being injured. Wish him well as he lines up against Doncaster on Saturday.

Hopefully, he does well. Getting regular first team football has to benefit any player and its an opportunity for him to prove he should be part of our first team squad. Next season I would imagine that both our current first team goalies will be gone, so this is a big chance for Joe to prove he's worthy of playing regular first team football.
Excellent against Coventry. Some excellent saves, good command of his box.
Considering he would have been very nervous I thought he looked great.
His potential has been clear for a few years - could he be number 1?
He's certainly the one goalkeeper we should be keeping.
If we can then bring in another more another experienced goalkeeper it will keep him on his toes.
The conundrum could be Begovic and how he sees his future. If he wants to be the first choice goalie then we need to get rid but if he sees himself going into coaching then we could keep him as the goalkeeping coach and also register him as a player. Begovic could then be our back up if the other 2 are injured. My only caveat would be that Begovic would have to take a major pay cut for that to work.
On today's showing, I'd be happy if he was our number one next season. Especially if we could get an experienced back-up.
Agreed. He did well today and I know there are those in the club who rate him highly.
I can't believe the club have left a contract offer until he's nearly a free agent., especially when you consider that Field and Willock were both offered new deals some months ago. It becomes even stranger if he's as highly rated as rumoured.
Maybe he's been offered a deal and like Willock he's considering his options to see if he gets offers from other clubs. The club seem to be very hush hush these days on their business dealings so we probably won't hear anything until he either signs a new deal or walks away.
Joe Walsh (22y 33d) is the youngest goalkeeper to win on his first league start for QPR since Lee Camp (19y 204d) vs Hartlepool in March 2004. [@jtsupple] #QPR
