QPR Prediction Competition 2017/18 - Match 46: Final Results

There was little drama at Elland Road but with everything still to decide in our prediction competition it was a nervy afternoon for our players and it turned out quite incredibly!!!!
Remember Ghost was 18 points behind QPRBex needing a maximum score to steal the title. The medal places were up for grabs along with top half finishes as we split into 2 divisions for next season and of course the dreaded wooden spoons were trying to be avoided at the bottom....
Ghost did the first part of his job by getting 2-0 to Leeds. stoatey also managed it.
Ghost, ranger-boy, CutePR and Rosco Bosco all got Roofe as first scorer - it hasn't happened many times this season that we've had 4 players getting the first scorer at the same time so well done to all 4.
The first goal time was one of those close to 2 brackets coming on 30 minutes so it was those who went for 16-30 that grab the points, namely ranger-boy, SydneyR and.... Ghost
That meant Ghost had 15 points in the bag with QPRBex pointless. QPRBex had gone for 1-1 Preston Burton, Ghost went for a Preston 2-1 win. It was 1-1 for so long.
Then Preston scored, it ended 2-1 and Ghost has done the unthinkable and taken the title on goal difference. 18 points needed without reply, 18 points scored. Title well and truly stolen. Scenes!!!!
I am literally is disbelief that Ghost has been able to do this, it was a hell of an effort, beyond unlikely, something we will probably never see again. It was fair play from QPRBex to play a different prediction but it must hurt to lose the title when be was top for 29 out of 46 matches and level for 3 of the others 16.
Ghost was NEVER top this season until Preston scored in the 90th minute against Burton. Ghost only made it into the medals after Match 41. QPRBex was 21 points clear with 2 matches to go. Absolutely insane. Ghost will now proudly have a GOLD star on the site to mark being the 2018 QPR Prediction Champion
Elsewhere....
Rosco Bosco secured 3rd place and the bronze medal for the second season in a row.
Below that there were changes everywhere as ranger-boy somehow ends up finishing 4th, a superb 13 points on the final day move him up from 9th to 4th. What a finish.
kingfisher was 4th heading into the final day but ends up 6th behind e17hoop who stays 5th on goal difference.
In the battle to finish in the top half CutePR has pipped me to 10th place having been 2 points behind. After back to back titles I will be starting next season in Division 2 - my gold star has also changed to 'former'. Shocking! stoatey ended the season with 9 points but that isn't enough to claw his way into the top half and may rue the 3 missed matches having only been 5 points off that hallowed 10th spot.
At the bottom there was no changes, pamment8 and QPRsmith both only scored a single point so pamment8 somehow avoids a wooden spoon on goal difference despite having spent the majority of the season in the bottom 3 and having been the player to score '0' the most this season (18 times).
minxymartin finishes bottom to take the last place wooden spoon trophy. minxy even failed to catch zantor who missed almost half the season! A terrible season and in the seasons minxymartin has played along it makes it 3 consecutive wooden spoons.
