So 16 players faced off in 8 head to head ties for Round 2 of our FA Cup Prediction Cup. Let's see how things shaped up...
In Match 1 myself, kingfisher, surrey chad, Rosco Bosco and CutePR all predicted the 1-1 score for QPR Vs Portsmouth
Nobody got the own goal first scorer or the rare 61-75 first goal time
It was the same 61-75 first goal time in Match 2 involving Doncaster and Oldham which nobody got, nor the first scorer in that game Whiteman
LurkR, Rosco Bosco and myself did however get Doncaster's 2-1 win exact
In Match 3 surrey chad did well predicting the Millwall win, the only player to do so. ranger-boy was unlucky going for 2-2 which was correct until the 94th minute.
surrey chad, e17hoop, QPRBex, ashqpr, Rosco Bosco and myself got the first goal time of 31-45 in that game
In Match 4 only e17hoop predicted Wimbledon's shock win over West Ham, a superb call.
There were 16 bookings across the 4 matches but none of the ties came down to goal difference.
Rosco Bosco steams past savoyhoop 15 points to 3 despite savoyhoop being the highest scorer in Round 1 and Rosco having scraped through to this stage. surrey chad was similarly comfortable defeating SydneyR by the same margin and I defeated League Cup winner QPRBex 16 points to 6 so it won't be a double 10 point bonus for QPRBex.
kingfisher was comfortably through against QPRsmith who failed to score a point and in the father Vs son battle it was experience that triumphed over youth 7 points to 3 as e17hoop beat MaxQPR. CutePR defeated minxymartin by the same score to avenge her loss to minxy at this stage of the League Cup competition earlier this season.
The 2 tightest matches saw LurkR and ashqpr see off ranger-boy and qprallan respectively by 6 points to 4. qprallan's exit alongside that of QPRBex means both League Cup finalists exit at the 2nd round stage. ranger-boy will be cursing that late Millwall winner mentioned above as without that he was going through.
Here is how Round 2 shaped up:
Quarter Finals
Round 3 - the Quarter Finals - sees the remaining 8 players going head to head again. As mentioned before Round 2 the winner of Tie 1 plays the winner of Tie 5, 2 plays 6, 3 plays 7 and 4 plays 8. This is the same pre-set draw order as the League Cup earlier in the season.
That leaves us with the following Quarter Final line up with 8 players still in with a chance of getting 10 bonus points for the QPR Prediction League:
Tie 1: Rosco Bosco Vs ashqpr
Tie 2: e17hoop Vs surrey chad
Tie 3: kingfisher Vs CutePR
Tie 4: LurkR Vs northwesthoop
The points all reset to zero. Round 1/2 score and previous goal difference only come into play going forward if there is no separating the players in the next round.
The Quarter Finals will be available to enter once the draw has taken place and dates have been set for the matches.
Also a reminder that if you played Dream R's fantasy football the transfer window is open and closes this coming Friday 01 February. All the information you need is HERE
