Can we make it through to the 5th round for the first time in 22 years at the second attempt?
We are on a bad run in the league but so are Portsmouth who have 3 defeats and a draw from their last 4 league matches. From being top they have dropped to 3rd and 7 points behind leaders Luton so they may need to start prioritising the league games and they have 2 away games to follow our clash. That could play in our favour. As could home advantage for the R's.
As for our team selection McClaren played a strong team in the original match to no avail so may now make changes. We made 5 changes when we beat Leeds so perhaps we'll see a similar amount tomorrow.
Personally I'd go with:
Ingram Kakay Furlong Hall Bidwell Cousins Manning Osayi-Samuel Wells Freeman Smith
I'd be tempted to keep Luongo in but Cousins and Manning have something to prove. I imagine McClaren will stick with Lumley in net and perhaps Leistner may still play at centre half.
Long time since I got pre match nerves To possibly progress to the 5th round of the FA cup It’s the best chance in years and I hope we don’t bloody blow it I really think Portsmouth will fancy their chances with a good away following too It will be a tight game and could go to penalties I just have it in my head today we will lose on penalties for some reason,I’m such a optimistic person ain’t I
Good news that Hemed finally back in contention! Tonight's game will probably hinge upon who makes the better start. If Pompey dominate we may see the collective heads of the Rs drop and mistakes start creeping in. I expect a tight game and would not be surprised if it goes to a penalty shoot-out....
I really think that this match is too close to call. A draw at Portsmouth was a pretty good result but we've really lost any sort of form since then - the Preston match in particular was a horror show. Let's hope that the QPR we saw in December turns up.
All the pressure is on us Lack of form in recent weeks They are the lower league team There’s no pressure on them really as if they lose they can say priority is going up from league one Jackett will want to play his old club Watford 100%
With Ingram, Leistner & Kakay available as defensive subs; Manning & Wszolek in the middle; and Eze & Hemed up front.
Surprised that Ingram did not get a start but pleased that Steve took my advice and paired Wells & Smith upfront! I have paid my £1 for the radio commentary and now it is just a case of a nervous wait... COYRs!!!
We needed smith to play He can Help out at the back for corners too League one sides are generally physical McClaren can experiment tonight and see if a different formation works out Also he can rest a few players as well It’s going to be one hell of a game hopefully
Hall's contract expires this summer and a good performance tonight might earn him an extension. If he can get back to the form he showed prior to his injury then he would be an ideal replacement for Cameron should he return to Stoke.
