QPR Vs Portsmouth : 4th Round Replay

We will have 3 matches in less than a week now from Saturday to Friday, the last of which is the most important one against Watford so Steve has a tricky job now of ensuring his best team is available for Watford whilst navigating matches against Birmingham and Bristol City.

We actually play midweek again after Watford too so we need all hands on deck. We know Hemed is back in the fold and hopefully Cameron and Rangel are available again over the next fortnight.

Are we now all eggs in the FA Cup basket?

I am so pleased that Steve took up my idea of playing Smith in front of Wells (I had no idea he accessed this excellent forum)! northwesthoop is right in mentioning Smith's limitations but, as has already been said above, he is adding something more to the play at present. To be honest, his performances have impressed me - including his sprinting! However, in the next few weeks I expect Hemed to get increasing time on the pitch at his expense. We should be grateful though that we have someone in the shape of Matt Smith who can make a positive impact!

Bigger question now: Should Wells start instead of Eze? In my opinion it should depend upon what type of opposition we are to face. Eze is better suited to play being allowed through the midfield on the ground against less physical sides, whereas Wells is willing to take balls anyway and anywhere he can find them.... 

Wells has been absolutely superb this season
His goal last night was a typical poachers goal
His addition has been vital this season
Eze needs to show some of his early season form
Smith is a good distraction in the box for Wells to do what he does best,hemed is a much neater player than smith so once he’s fit he can slot in to the team

Well that game last night was an absolute pleasure to watch. Both teams looked to be going for it and one of the few occasions I’ve left a football match feeling genuinely entertained.

I said on Twitter last night three words that summed up that match last night; Patient, Professional, Deserved.

Portsmouth came to get the result (as they showed with a game of end to end football, even if minimal shots on target) and we had to word hard to break them down, not rush and have more composure. We did all of that and more, doing well to not even let them have a proper shot at goal even if they were getting in the positions. All f this lead to us fully deserving to go through.

Just one question, does the 5th round go to a replay if it’s a draw, or is it from now that all ties have to be decided on the day?

I personally think all cup games should go straight to penalties
Extra time just seems a waste of time to me,the underdogs always just play 10 at the back in extra time to take it to penalties normally

I thought golden goal and silver goal worked better than just standard extra time. Silver goal was probably the best as it gave the team who conceded a chance to reply but limited it to the end of the half. Golden goal was a bit brutal but I suppose it was only the equivalent of somebody scoring a last gasp winner in normal time.
I don't know why UEFA/FIFA did away with both of those ideas.
