If we lose tomorrow and us winning looks a uphill task West Brom have won last 7 out of 8 away I think Will equal one of Holloway’s bad runs We then have boro,Leeds and Brentford away That could be 9 losses in a row and then the 10 point gap which all it is now at the bottom could be a 3 or 4 point gap,we could drawn into the bottom 5 or 6 and a relegation battle is on our hands If we can somehow pull of a big win we can then start to relax but we need 3 points from at least one of those games and that’s a fact Our run of games is a nightmare if we’re honest Yes I’m negative but it’s there for you all to see and it’s not that we are playing that badly,we don’t seem to know what system to play and maybe McClaren is tinkering too much
We will not be relegated for sure, but neither will we make the Play Offs. This bad run has put paid to any vague hopes of glory.... QPR are heading for a mid-table finish sadly.

Lots of using 'if' and 'could' in that post!
It's all conjecture at this stage but there is no way we are going down. No way in a million years.
As I tried to explain after Bristol City last week we may only need 3 more points to be safe, perhaps not even that many.
Yes we may end up totting up 9 or 10 defeats on the bounce and we are on a bad run but we still won't go down as we will pick up some points at some stage.
Do you honestly think we are going to lose the next 15 games until the end of the season?

And to add slightly off topic but linked to the title 'doom and gloom' my concern is that we seems to be plateauing as a club.
This is our 4th season at this level and every year we've been mid-table and on 50 to 60 points. Even our good players like Luongo have had 4 seasons now and our finishing positions indicate they aren't good enough to take the club further. There is almost an argument to say that if we have any aspirations to step back up to the next level we need a complete overhaul of the whole squad.
That is my cause for a bit of 'doom and gloom' at the moment, not the worry of relegation, just the fact we seem to be stuck in the mud with every season turning into dead rubbers by the end of February. It's not much to get excited about year after year.
If we sell Freeman (who has well and truly put himself in the shop window) and we are going to lose Wells and Cameron next season (and won't be able to replace them with players on as high a wages as we lose our parachute payments) we could really take another step backwards.
I actually think relegation could be a good thing though long term as a lot of clubs reset and come back with confidence and a winning mentality and go on to get promoted twice (Look at Leicester, Wolves, Southampton and recently Sheffield United to name but a few). That may be better than spending year after year after year finishing 16th.

The going down part I agree with northwest We could rebuild from the start and use players like chair and smyth who would be more suited to that division We would hopefully do well and build the fan base back up again The whole club financially would be able to get back on track and we would then only have players we can afford Let’s face it without wells and Cameron and Rangel we’d of been bottom 3 and I agree we shouldn’t go down but it’s annoying we’ve dragged ourselves to the bottom half when we was the form side at one stage in the championship We’re in a situation where we’re not good or bad enough for the championship,we are team that will finish 16th every season It’s not all bad,we’ve got games in hand,we got past 3rd round of FA cup and nearly went further,we finally beat forest away It’s just annoying how we could of made much more of this season in the league

I agree with most of your post northwesthoop but not the part about relegation and certainly not that relegation could be a good thing.
There is no guarantee that If we went down that we would get back up. We could actually end up a struggling League 1 team or worse. I remember people posting on the previous site when we were in the Premiership and saying that we should accept relegation, readjust, get rid of the high earners and get back up. We did get relegated, we did readjust and we did get rid of the high earners and as a result we are now a below average Championship team and any chance of us playing in the Premiership is currently pie in the sky.
However, I cling to the fact that If we can find a striker that will score us a hat full of goals and arrive on a free transfer then maybe we can get back to the promised land. It certainly seems to have worked for Norwich.

Very good point about us thinking we'd drop to the Championship, reset and go again and it not going to plan.
Certainly there would be no guarantees of coming back up I agree, I just don't think relegation should be feared. I also don't think bouncing back from League 1 is as hard as bouncing back to the Premier League.
The way our youngsters are performing in the lower leagues does also suggest we'd have enough to do well in League 1 should we find ourselves there in 18 months time.
All I'm mainly saying is I'm sure we'd all enjoy a promotion season and winning 30 odd games a lot more than we've enjoyed the last few seasons. Sometimes it doesn't matter what league you are in, your club winning and doing well still gives you a great feeling at the weekend. Treading water in the Championship for half a decade on the other hand is pretty monotonous.
Realistically we all knew we would finish about where we are. We had a worrying start and then a purple patch and now we are dropping again but im sure we will pick up and then finish mid table.
With everything thats happened with FFP and taking longer than we would of liked to get rid of the high earners i think we have to re-adjust our timeline for getting on the up, i would not expect a real promotion push until a season or two's time and i think we should aim to make a team that can stay in the prem. By that i mean younger players, and with that we can start developing a playing style that is ingrained in the club from top to bottom. For me i think that is what is needed to stay in the prem, we need to be able to produce a couple young players every few years who can handle being a part of the first team squad. The problem we have had the last two times we went up has been we have bought loads of players, given them to much money and then no one in the squad really cares about the club or how it goes because they saw a pay day and a stepping stone. If we have a club ethos and are producing young players they will naturally care about the club and not abuse it.
If and its a big if, we can get back to the prem in a few seasons time and we are in a position to stay there while only adding one or two high quality first eleven players then i will take the seasons like this.
Its not been an easy season to endure but lets not forget some highlights
1. We beat Forest at their place for the first time ever. 2. We got passed the 3rd round of the FA cup for the first time in 20}+ years 3. we have seen a few youth players come through and establish their place in Eze & Lumley 4. The fine is sorted and we know what we have to deal with.

QPRsmith that would be lovely if we could develop enough your players to both make the club sustainable and competitive at the highest level - but - although this is the best bunch of youngsters we've had in probably 20-25 years I don't sense any of them are top level.
I also like the idea that the club has a style of play and trains players across all levels to play that way (and hires managers in line with the philosophy) - but - The first team have changed formation 3-4 times across this season and so we seem a long way from being able to do that.
I honestly have no idea if the club is going to head forwards or backwards over the next 12-24 months as parachute payments stop but we become a more settled club at the same time.
QPRSmith totally agree with everything you have said
It will take time to develop an identity for the club. (Developing young players and playing in a style that the fans are happy to watch) more than 1 or 2 seasons . but in my opinion that is defiantly the way to go.
The first step is to back the manager long term. McClaren was not my chose of manager but now that we have got him he needs a fair chance to develop the team. sacking him because we finished mid table (as we did with Holloway) will put us back to square one again.
League one not to be feared We can get rid of all the high earners and deadwood We can build a new young team and develop a new style of football We can get on loan good championship players or young premier league players and lots of our young players are good enough for league one Anyway My mate is a big Luton fan and is loving it at the moment Last time with Ollie league one was exciting and more positive McClaren would go if we dropped to league one and the board would fire him if he didn’t walk anyway It’s all a big if and hopefully it doesn’t happen as dropping down might be a huge risk, but seeing my team win more and a more positive vibe around Loftus Road wouldn’t go a miss
Developing a youth-based side that can not only survive in the Championship but prosper, that is the target! Sadly, we currently do not have the best facilities to do this and I feel that may put off some from joining the club. Everything is pointing to at least two more seasons as mid-table finishers, and the training facilities to come of age, so we have to keep the faith meanwhile!

I agree that we need to get rid of our dead wood but if we got rid of our highest paid players (Luongo, Freeman, Leistner Rangel and Bidwell) then we would be doomed.
Realistically we probably are doomed because 98% of our turnover is wages!
