ashqpr and CutePR battled it out in our FA Cup knockout prediction cup Final to see who would take home 10 points for the QPR prediction League. Let's see who came out on top!
The first match to take place was Match 3 between Newcastle and Crystal Palace. Neither player got the goal time but CutePR took an early lead as she predicted Crystal Palace's away win to go 3-0 up
Next up was Match 2 between Man City and Brighton which was closer than anybody predicted. Both players though still got 3 points for predicting the Man City win whilst ashqpr grabbed another 3 points thanks to predicting the 0-15 first goal time. That levelled it up at 6-6 overnight with 2 matches remaining...
... Everton beat Arsenal which neither player predicted in Match 4 so it all came down to Match 1 between Watford and Wolves.
Both players went for similar predictions predicting a Watford win but neither went for 3-2 so that meant 3 points apiece. Both also got the goal time 31-45 for another shared 3 points. Neither got the first scorer nor that Wolves would score first so it ended all square 12 v 12. Despite having 46 points on offer yet again it comes down to goal difference like both semi finals did!
There were 17 bookings in the 4 games. CutePR went for 11, ashqpr went for 12 and so that makes ashqpr the FA Cup winner 2018/19 with 10 bonus points to boot!
Both players actually scored 53 points across the FA Cup too so there was no separating them! CutePR is an unlucky runner up but congratulations to ashqpr ! ashqpr had never previously made it past Round 2 in a cup but went 3 rounds better this time. CutePR won the FA Cup trial last season but fell just short 12 months on.
Here is how the Final scores looked:
I'm sure you all agree the cups work very well and are hard to win making the 10 bonus points more than justified.
It is a shame the matches keep coming down to goal difference but that is luck of the draw and against the odds really. If you can think of something else that could be used for goal difference other than bookings that doesn't involve much more predicting or too much maths let me know!
All that is left to say is a huge well done once again to our FA Cup Winner 2018/19 ashqpr!
