The end of season parade round the pitch must of felt rediculous for the players and the fans, almost embarrassing if we’re honest We had some positive parts of the season our mini run with 23 points in 11 games which saved us really McClaren manager of the month,a FA cup run for a change,we beat Leeds twice,we broke our curse at forest But also rock bottom and stats we don’t want to go back on We had it all going for us,playing nice football and with confidence but it all went wrong not just with injuries but other teams worked us out and our tactics too easy, our defence got scared of their own shadow and we suddenly dried up of goals or let in too many to get anything out of the game
I think Freeman was carrying a injury towards end of season but we have to give wells some credit for his goals and Rangel for being a very solid player even at late 30s We’re going to lose Freeman and leistner may go to We need a leader on the pitch next season and I think a new goalkeeper,if smithies was in goal this season we’d of done better I now can have a couple of months of stress free weekends
Singlespeed, I can't agree with your comment about Wells deserving credit for his goals. He only scored 9 and if it's true that we were paying him £35k/week then it would have been cheaper to keep Conor Washington who used to do the same job of running around a lot without any end product.
9 goals is not a bad return Would of been 11 if he didn’t miss 2 penalites How many did Hemed get
9 goals from your main striker is about as poor as it gets. Apart from us only 5 Championship teams currently have a top scorer with less than 10 goals and 3 of those teams are now relegated.
Hemed scored less than Wells and is another striker who if it's true that he is being paid c. £35k/week is not worth the money.
We could have played Smith and Washington (17 goals between them last season) up front this season and they would have been more effective than Wells and Hemed ( 16 goals between them so far this season).

Very interesting facts stoatey, proves what a waste of money overall that Hemed and Wells have been. We could even have played Oteh and Smyth and 16 between them would have been achievable.
Hemed and Wells both started decent but have massively tailed off. Wells especially is playing like a broken man. He cost £8 million less than 2 years ago and will be worth only a fraction of that now. Burnley will probably end up loaning him out again or letting him go for free his stock has fallen so far.
Just think if we had not wasted all that money on Hemed and Wells we may have had enough in the kitty to tempt back Charlie who has been told to leave Southampton.

Unfortunately Charlie's wages might now be out of our reach but he is a born goalscorer like Vardy, Aguero, Assombolonga, Ings, Callum Wilson etc., These type of players score goals at whatever club and level they play. What amazes me is that there are other young players who score goals on a regular basis in the lower leagues that clubs like QPR seem to totally disregard.
Last season I mentioned John Akinde of Barnet who was scoring goals for fun but then unfortunately got injured and his goals dried up. At the end of the season he was offloaded to Lincoln where he has regained his confidence and has been scoring goals and helped them to get promotion.
Another young goalscorer I have mentioned previously is Blair Henderson who plays up in Scotland. He had a goal scoring record of a goal every 2 games at his previous clubs but is now with Edinburgh City and his record is a goal a game. The guy doesn't even play full time he is a Chartered Accountant but for me he is an out and out goalscorer who we should be looking at and taking on trial. Imagine if he was allowed to just concentrate on his football he could be the goal scorer we need.
I have said this before I am not a fan of loan players coming in or going out.
If it is true that we are paying Wells and Hemed £35K a week each , that has cost the club £3.5M over a season.
It is unlikely that we will resign these 2 players so we will need to sign an other 2 players for next season on loan or play our younger players.
If we sign 2 Strikers on loan for next season it is unlikely that we would pay them £35k a week, therefor as money talks in this game they would probably not be as good.
If this is the case then we may be forced to play some of our youngsters as strikers ( Othe Smyth Walker Eze Bos)
If we had done so this season as northwest has said. They would have probably scored as many goals and therefore we would have been no worse off.
They would have had a year playing more or less regularly over the season and that could only be good for them and the club
Indeed we would have been £3.5M better off in saved wages. This money could have been put into improving contracts for the players we want to keep or to pay for the replacements of players that we want to get ride of.
I have no ax to grind over these players as they have played well in parts of the season. But could we have not used £3.5M better
We need to tempt a top league one striker that just misses out on promotion this season and defenders He will want championship football next season There’s some good players at Charlton and other teams in that league,we need players full of confidence not has beens or reserves from premier league clubs Whoever comes in as boss will need the know how to tempt lower league gems in and good premier league youth players Warburton fits the bill for this job as much as people would say he’s not suitable etc,we can’t afford to be fussy, after watching us this season who’d want it

Wow £3.5 million wasted. And I think this is what ultimately cost McClaren his job.... he went off remit after losing the first 4 games bringing in the experienced and expensive loan players and in doing so meant expectations from within the club changed. You can't bring in 2 premier league loan strikers and then finish lower than last season. We should have stuck with what we had, played the youngsters (given them more than 4 games to grow into the team) and seen where we ended up. Ultimately we'd probably still be in the same place.

I remember you mentioning Akinde and others last summer and I completely agree that players scoring that many goals simply know how to score. Charlie Austin was the same, scoring SO many goals he would always score goals.
Players like that are also full of confidence and imagine how they would feel when they know QPR have called and they walk into Loftus Road for the first time. That is what we want, players who will then give everything because they are grateful for the opportunity and chance to impress. Even if they don't work out they are inexpensive gambles and worth a try. Anybody who scores 25-30 goals at any level is worth a trial or a look as they must have something about them.
Brandon Goodship at Weymouth has 37 goals this season. He must have something about him! He was released by Bournemouth a few years ago so has a point to prove.
Tobias Holmes has 30 this season after netting over 50 last year and 31 the season before. He knows where the net is. Are you telling me if you give this guy service from Freeman he will suddenly forget how to score? He'd cost next to nothing and if it works out we make a fortune.
We've gone down the route of names we all know and that hasn't worked; they don't care.
This goes back to what kensalr said in that loan players will always down tools and never care quite as much as your own players. They just go back to their parent clubs and just write it off as a bad experience.

Charlton have a very good striker called Lyle Taylor that has a scoring record of about 1 goal every 2.5 games. The one drawback is that he is now 29 and probably no longer falls within our transfer remit. Unfortunately Charlton also had a very promising young striker called Kalan Grant who is 22yo but he has now signed for Huddersfield.
Another decent striker who regularly scores is John Marquis of Doncaster, he scores goals every season but QPR might consider him too old at 26yo.
If we are to sign any of these decent strikers we need to be quick off the mark before other clubs get to them. Unfortunately because we have no manager to sanction any deal I fear that we will leave all our business to the start of next season and only look at loan signings.
How does the club lift itself up from where we are? There is just a vibe of negativity around the club right now (rightly so after this second half to the season)......Our only hope is that they pluck a manager from somewhere that creates a bit of excitement and that in refreshing the majority of the squad in the summer we somehow go from strength to strength. It seems a hell of a long shot right now but without that hope what is the point?
Ah, like Ollie perhaps...? For sure the next appointment is critical, both to the club and the supporters. Whoever gets the nod, we will have to ensure a pre-season of hype before we establish if the manager and his squad are 'up for it' and capable. It going to be a long few months....
I would add, in regard to the discussion above about loan players, none of us would have been complaining if one of the loan strikers got a reasonable amount of goals in the season or, perish the thought, both managed to do well. Sadly, injury had a lot to do with Hemed's failings and Wells has done everything right accept convert chances into goals. If only....

The more i think of it the more i hope we dont go for the same old managers who have been around the championship block but not achieved anything real. we have tried the same old time and time again, prem players on loan, a manager that has done jobs elsewhere and maybe did something a long time ago, we need to take a new approach. We need to find our own approach to things across the board and that takes some courage from the top.

The point you make about none of us complaining if the loan strikers had got a reasonable amount of goals is very fair. The issue for me is that it was always highly unlikely that Wells or Hemed would be prolific. Their goal scoring records prior to joining us was nothing special (Hemed' s average was 1 goal every 4 games and Wells was a bit better at 1 goal every 3 games.). One other point about Wells is that he had taken 2 penalties prior to joining us and missed them both, his record is now 4 missed penalties in a row.
If I was the owner or a Diector of a football club and the manager provided a list of players that he wanted to sign you would hope that somebody would do some homework and find out a bit about what each of the players can or can't do. Clearly if that had happened at QPR then somebody would have suggested to the Directors and McClaren that neither Hemed or Wells would score lots of goals and if we were to sign Wells we musn' t let him take penalties!
It shows me that despite all the Financial Mismanagement issues that led to FFP the club is still poorly run and that it can't even get the basics right when signing players.

Does make you wonder what all those 'assistants' do who appear on the touchline? If they are not involved in research and fact-keeping then what do they do?
