Site Update Summer 2019

I like the idea of the one team one round - I might actually be closer to the top... ha ha ha ha. Probably not.

It's incredible the amount of dedication and work you put into this site, Northwest. I love coming here on a daily basis. We are all very lucky to have you!

All the proposed updates/changes sound good and encouraging! If nobody is able to do the reports then I’m happy to do them from the games I go to, but it won’t be every game as I only do a few homes and 7-8 aways, but still happy to if it helps!

As for the new game idea I think we will give it a shot then for next season.

Here is the idea:

The game is called 'The Lone Ranger'


All you have to do it pick a team from The Premier League or Championship you think will win in the coming weekends fixtures. So entry literally consists of typing 1 team name.

Each player starts the season with 10 lives.

If the team you picked wins you breathe easily and don’t lose any of your lives (Or gain 0.5/1 life I've not decided yet)

If they draw you lose 1 life. If they lose you lose 2 of your 10 lives.

Lose all 10 lives and you are out of the game. So players will drop out at various stages.

The aim is to be the last man standing with lives remaining when all others have fallen by the wayside.... The Lone Ranger. So the game could end at any point in the season once a few games have been played.

The catch is you can only select a team once for the duration of the game. So if you choose QPR in Round 1 you can never select them again. You effectively have a choice of 44 teams in Round 1, 43 in Round 2 and so on from the Prem/Champ selection pool. You can only have Man City once!

The point system is still being finalised as the game needs to last long enough but not get to the point it never ends if players keep selecting a correct winner. My concern with adding lives for correct predictions is some players may never go out!!! I'll probably have to run the game and amend the rules for the next instalment based on how it goes.

If the last man standing is before say the mid point of the season we could start all over again (Just a thought)

The Lone Ranger sounds good northwest.On the subject of non participation in the competitions, it could be down to the fact that there is no real incentive to partake except for the fun element. If the club could support your efforts and provide some sort of prizes i.e Club Merchandise or even free match tickets for the competitions you run. I am sure that players are more likely to make the effort to partake (They provide prizes for Sportito Fantasy Players). I  won 2 team signed shirts last season. Have decided to sell one so any offers welcome. Along with all other posters I would like to thank you northwest for all the work you do to keep this site popular. Your effort are appreciated.

Thanks qprallan. Not sure how I would get the club to offer prizes, they probably can't be seen to endorse anything 'unofficial'. If anything they are more likely to steal the ideas (like they did suddenly doing a weekly quiz!)
