Another Matt Smith is expected to sign on loan from Man City.
Smith is a 19-year-old midfielder who has been with the Premier League champions since joining from West Brom's youth team in 2013.
He spent the 2018/19 season on loan with Dutch second division side FC Twente, playing 34 times as they won the title by 11 points. Smith scored two goals, and provided one assist.
Rangers have beaten off competition from former City captain Vincent Kompany for his signature, with the new Anderlecht boss keen to sign the midfield man on loan this summer.

Again he sounds very promising but can we please give him a nickname because it was confusing enough with big Smith and little Smyth. Adding another Smith - and with the same first name to boot - is simply too much Smith!!
He is a full Wales international at just 19 and he wouldn't be on Man City's books under Guardiola without having something special about him.

As I said above this signing really excites me; be just signed a long term deal at City and wouldn't be there and signing new deals if he wasn't quality.
From the interview it sounds like he will play in front of the back 4 and be our link to get the ball moving forwards.
What does this mean for Scowen though? The word 'rat' comes up in the Smith article and he won't be coming here to waste a year of development. Smith will be hungry to prove he has what it takes to make the grade at City. He won the Dutch 2nd division last year.
The fact that Warburton wants to play a certain style and has brought in 2 ball playing midfielders to do so does not bode well for our current players who Warburton clearly doesn't fancy.
Can’t keep with all these new faces Again a very decent player who’s highly rated at city Warburton there’s a word rhyming with biker Yes striker get a bloody striker or two now Team starting to look pretty good now and totally overhauled from last season

You have got to give Warburton his due because the players he is signing all appear to be either better than we have or players that will create some decent competition.
On paper our midfielders and defenders look a much more compact set of players to choose from. If he can add that elusive goal scorer to the frontline then we would have a decent team.
