3 months after the final results update of last season, 14 signings and a new manager later here we are back with the first results update of 2019/20 for the QPR Prediction League!
Thank you to everybody who has entered both old and new, it truly is appreciated. So we welcome gingersj123 and qprcammitch to the fold, it is great to have you here! The new players of course start in Division 2. Remember to always have a look over your own scores and if you notice I've got something wrong please do flag it up, I try my best to double check everything but I am only human after all!
So how did everybody do in Match 1? The first match is of course one of the hardest matches of the season to call, especially for QPR this season after a summer of change....
Well done to MaxQPR and MCM Hoop who predicted QPR would come away with the 2-1 win at Stoke to grab 6 points each! minxymartin was the only other player to call the QPR win getting 3 points.
Myself and QPRsmith and got Hugill as the first scorer for the full 6 points in that category, so we were as happy as he clearly was to strike first!
ashqpr, MaxQPR and SydneyR are the first players to benefit from picking up the new 'back up' point after calling Clucas (ashqpr) and Eze (Max & SydneyR) as first scorers. As they scored at any time in the game that bags each of that trio the single back up point.
singlespeed was the only player out of 22 who got the early first goal time.
new player qprcammith nailed a superb prediction getting Sheffield Wednesday's 3-1 away at Reading correct in the bonus match for 3 points. A nice way to start!
The goal difference 'Bonus Match 2' of course has changed this season. West Brom beat Forest so LurkR, qprcammith, onenightfever, minxymartin, Rosco Bosco, singlespeed, e17hoop, MCM Hoop, Ghost, kingfisher and myself all pick up our first goal difference point of the season for predicting that correct outcome. Remember the higher your goal difference the better as this will separate any ties. You no longer need to predict the number of goals which quite a few players did.
Division 1 has seen the scoring start at a slow pace with only 4 out of the 11 players scoring. MCM Hoop hits the summit with 6 points, 3 clear of singlespeed with newly promoted pair Rosco Bosco and ranger-boy the only other 2 players to pick up a point. The bottom 4 are all equal and are ranked in order of finishing position last season for now.
MaxQPR was the highest scoring player across both divisions with 7 points, aided by the new back up point. He tops the second tier ahead of myself and QPRsmith who currently fill the remaining promotion places.
Only 2 players failed to score; Newbie gingersj123 and CutePR. CutePR is bottom on goal difference but of course there are still 14 games to go in Phase 1 so everything will change!
As a side note e17hoop scored in each of the opening 19 games last season but fails to score on Match 1 this time around which shows what a feat that was!
Match 2 is up and ready to enter now and don't forget we also have the League Cup coming up after Match 2 so remember to enter that too with 10 bonus points on offer!
The future matches are usually up for predictions a few at a time so you can enter early if need be. If not, and you are going to be away or will be offline for a period, simply send me a message and I'll put more matches up.
