Eberechi Eze has caught the eye of Aidy Boothroyd and been called up to the England U21 squad for their opening 2021 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifiers. Eze played for the U20's last season and this will be the first time he has made the U21's.
If he impresses for the England U21's we will struggle to hang on to him but his value could increase dramatically.
When was the last time we had a player in the England U21 squad? Kevin Gallen?
I think you are right northwesthoop, Kevin Gallen is the the only player that I can remember who played for England U21's whilst a permanent QPR player. He also played at U18 level where he was part of the England team that won the UEFA U18 Championship.
In the early 2000's I believe that Micheal Manciene who was on loan to us from Chelsea also managed to play for the England U21 team.
Being selected can only raise his value, and if he performs for England as he has for us then that value will go even higher! I stated he must do better this season and I said it with 'fingers crossed'; but he has upped his work-rate and involvement, without impacting upon his passing and movement skills. I only hope he does not go to a club that uses him to prop up the team, rather than be a lynch-pin of their side!

If he continues to play as he has done in the first few games then I can see him attracting interest in January. Unfortunately we know that whether we are offered a good deal or a poor deal he will be sold. When you think that we only got c.£5m for Freeman when other clubs were getting £10m for defenders it shows how poorly we negotiate.
What could be a win,win would be if a Premiership club saw him as a future star who still needed game time and then loaned him back to us.
Perhaps not the right place for this article (even though it links to Eze) but both these QPR development players (Kendall & Dalling) are getting feted:

Dalling has done well but is now 21yo and would probably benifit from a loan deal to see if he can produce at League 2 or National league level. He has speed and is a right footed winger who prefers playing on the left. When you consider that Chair, BOS and Paul Smyth are only a few months older than Dalling it shows how difficult it would be for him to have any chance of getting near the QPR first team.
Charley Kendall is nearly 19yo and has scored plenty of goals at the U18 level. He is just over 6 feet tall and is still growing so the move into the U23 squad will now see him competing against bigger and better players. He certainly looks as though he will make the progression and if there is one thing we need it's a goal scoring striker.
