Can they do better... perhaps... but they could do a lot worse than take a punt on Chair who is proven at this level, often tops the charts for chances created etc. He also probably wouldn't cost as much and Leicester still need to spend wisely now.
Do I rate Chair over Willock? 12 months ago Willock had overtaken Chair, but Chair has proven to be more consistent and far less injury prone. Maybe somebody will take both as a package deal because they know they work well together.
Chair is currently our most valuable asset and if Leicester do want to sign him then I reckon our owners are so desperate for cash we'd accept any low ball offer.

No! We need to play hard ball!!
It is difficult to value Illias after such a poor season. He was one of the best players, but he never got enough decent support and, ultimately, did not score enough. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is very competitive, and he would probably be sad to go - even to Leicester. He is 25 years old and Transfer Market has him at £10m, which I believe is a fair price.
According to reports in the Sunday Mirror, Leeds pushed to get their hands on Chair and were even prepared to meet the club’s £6m asking price for the player.
However, QPR were always reluctant to lose Chair at this late stage of the transfer window.
With little time to no time left to secure an adequate replacement, QPR are set to resist selling the player and will hold on to him.
Not sure I totally believe this because if our owners were happy to get £2m for Dieng then they'd jump at £6m for Chair.

I do think he's worth more than that.
But our club don't seem to be able to get the balance right. We never sell at the right time (apart from Eze).
I don't want Chair to go, but it's unlikely we will get an offer like that next summer unless he signs a new deal.
We need to sell players, it's a harsh fact of where the club is at, but we just don't seem to be very good at making the decisions about when to sell and how to keep the players as sellable assets.
Jack Supple pointed out that on Tuesday night Illias registered his 60th goal involvement (28 goals, 32 assists) and has assisted in consecutive appearances for the first time since November 2021.
If playing against Birmingham on Friday it will be Chair's 200th QPR appearance.
Selfishly I'd love him to stay at QPR his whole career, but he actually deserves a chance to prove himself higher up.
My sentiments exactly! He and Sam Field have been the solid, constant bright lights in our matches for some time. Others have now joined who are helping to bolster performances, but Illias has done us proud, and PL clubs need to look again at what they are missing!
I'd imagine that Chair will be part of Morocco squad for the African Nations cup and that could mean he's gone for a month from January 13 until February 11. He will be a huge miss as he's one of the few players that actually produces anything positive for us.

Yes he's had his critics yesterday, he should have cleared the ball which led to their corner and should have stopped Bannan cutting back on his left foot, but overall he never goes missing. He always gives his all and like you say stoatey is our most likely outlet to create something.
His performances against Preston and Hull recently will have created interest in his for January.
He wasn't in the last Morocco squad though, probably because his form dipped under Ainsworth. But if we don't lose him to Morocco I worry we will lose him to another club anyway.

He will be a big loss when he is away for the African Cup, and even more so if he is poached in the January window. He does far more, and more successfully, in defending than either Willock or Armstrong currently. They would have to really step up!
In an interview Illias was talking about the African Cup and the potential of missing up to five games was mentioned. He suggested there were FOUR suitable replacements: Duke-McKenna, Dixon-Bonner, Richards & Armstrong. Personally, based upon recent form, I think none come as close as Illias hopes and Cifuentes wants....
