Looks like we have gone back to basics at the back now We don’t leave ourselves so wide open Eze is on the radar of several clubs and he will probably go Great result and clean sheet against a bogey team Good time to play them as they hadn’t won their last few games and had injuries in defence

The win against Preston moves us up to 14th place and back to within 4 points of the play off places.
The top 2 Leeds and West Brom have disappeared from the view of pretty much everybody but the standard below is so low that there is no reason with a bit of consistency we can't get back in the mix for the top 6.
We have a much kinder run of fixtures ahead too with only one match against in the top half left this year - we face the teams 13th, 24th, 17th, 18th and 12th to see out 2019.
We now have a 12 point cushion over the bottom 3. Safe.
The main news from the Preston win was it ended our run of having gone 25 competitive matches, over 8 months, without keeping a clean sheet. We were the last football league team to manage that feat in 2019/20.
It was our first win against Preston since 2010 and our first win in 8 league games so we got a lot of monkey's off our back!
It was the first time both Joe Lumley and Todd Kane have been on the winning side since we beat Millwall on 21 September.
For Grant Hall it was even longer, a mix of being injured and coming back into a team on a bad run mean he hadn't tasted victory since we beat Luton on 14 September.
Toni Leistner get's himself back up to a 50% win rate, he has the best percentage other than Yoann Barbet who has now missed 7 games in a row.
Ebere Eze and Ryan Manning maintain their 100% appearance records.
What a great game, Lumley with a superb save to keep the clean sheet. How does Eze get away with taking penalties like that?
The rules say the forward momentum must be maintained, but he does sail close to the wind! 😊 We were worthy winners and kept a clean sheet! I noted two changes at the back that may have helped: 1. Balls passed back to Lumley were not dribbled - just kicked out 2. When under pressure the defenders chose often to put the ball out, rather than try more risky options
The inclusion of Bright Osay Samuel get us moving forward a lot quicker too, he has made a huge difference.

Do we think Eze will go in January or the summer?
I think it comes down to what confidence we have in making the playoffs. There must have been enquiries by now and no doubt his agent is pushing for the move due.
This was a very important win and clean sheet Defence now will have some confidence People were starting to question warburton but he has stopped the rot the last 2 games and we wouldnt of got nowhere sacking him Eze is so like Adel Taarabt as lazy at times too,but is class on his day He’s so cool and laid back and his penalty taking is damn cheeky We hit a bad patch,Preston have and Birmingham also hadn’t won in a while up until yesterday Leeds might as well pick up their league title now and West Brom runner up and play offs Christ knows

It's inevitable that we will sell him but whether it's in January or in the summer we need to ensure he is not let go on the cheap.

absolutely. I am hoping that we made enough during last summer by selling a few and not spending much means that we are not desperate to balance the books.

That's very much my way of thinking as well. Hopefully, the money we got from selling Freeman and Furlong will leave us in a much stronger bargaining position and any low ball offers can be laughed away.
In today's market and based on the fee that we got for Freeman I would think that Eze is worth at least £12m to £15m with some add ons. I have read that some are valuing Eze at c. £20m which seems a bit high to me but it's a good starting point to begin negotiations.
Good team performance today and big well done to Joe Lumley and Tony Leistner who played big roles in keeping that clean sheet.
Well others recognise the transformation in our defence because the WhoScored.com 'Championship Team of the Week' features not just Eze but also Tony Leistner!
