Shame Lyndon did not get on the scoring sheet for Scotland when they played Georgia. Here is a quote from the Beeb:
Lyndon Dykes glanced Billy Gilmour's free-kick wide in the first half before seeing another saved at the near post after the break. The Queens Park Rangers striker was the man to make way for Shankland, who demonstrated the composure Dykes was lacking just seven minutes after coming on by planting in a header of his own in the dying stages.
It may be a case of whoever was there (Dykes or Shankland) would have scored, or that Dykes would have missed that opportunity too. Did you manage to see the game Rosco Bosco?

I did indeed see the match. I thought Dykes did okay tbf. Scotland had quite a few first choice players missing; and with a much poorer supply from crosses (Robertson, Tierney and Hickey all out injured) any target man would have his work cut out for him. Dykes almost scored - from 2.55 in the attached clip.
The BBC comment is lazy journalism; frankly laughable. The only difference between Dykes not scoring and Shankland scoring is that the Geogia goalkeeper gets a stronger hand to one and not the other. Shankland hardly tore things up when he came on - though tbf to him, he was only on for just over 10 mins. At international level Dykes has a comparable scoring rate (approx 1 goal per 3 matches) to Shankland. But Dykes is more effective because of the set-up; aggressive wing-backs (Robertson/Hickey) and attacking midfielders (McGinn, McTominey, etc.).

Ill try and find the thread but didn't stoatey tell us to sign Shankland about 5/6 years ago?
I think I might have mentioned back then he was okay. Okay is the long and the short of it, imho. I may be doing him an injustice, but I've never been a fan. Struck me as a flat-track bully (though did score against Celtic recently).
I had a look at that clip Rosco Bosco and agree with you: Dykes header was as good as Shankland's and just unlucky. If we can only get that service and his heading prowess into QPR games....

In June 2019, I posted a Lawrence Shankland thread and wrote,
"'Shankland is about to be out of contract at Ayr Utd. He is a 6ft 2in, 23yo who scored 34 goals in 41 games last season and has a career record of 96 goals in 214 matches.
So in summary he is a young proven goalscorer who is on a free. He meets the clubs profile and is just what we need.
I hope that the club have been watching him because in my opinion he seems well worth taking a chance on."
Whether we ever made an enquiry at that time who knows but I think that Sir Les did go to watch him play but by then he'd already signed for Dundee.
I'm sure he would be interested in a move to Celtic, or Real Madrid, or Manchester City. But the point is, do they want to sign him? I'm at a bit of a loss as to see why anyone would right now. So it's a bit of a non-story really. Is Miller his agent now?
Dykes to Celtic makes no sense at all especially when there are much better options available.
I'd imagine that because Dykes has just signed a new 3 year contract on £18k/annum we'd probably be looking at selling him for around £3m. For that money I'd imagine that Celtic could get a proven goal scorer like Lawrence Shankland who has just under 18 months left of his contract at Hearts.
Another option is Sydney van Hooijdonk who was prolific in Holland (26 goals in 54 games at Heerenveen) before moving to Bologna where he hasn't settled and now wants a move.
