im a massive darts fan the BDO have virtually killed the world championships and its own future The attendance at the indigo has been pathetic in my opinion and players playing to virtual empty venue why did they move it from the lakeside, yes its a craphole but its tradition and a lot better atmosphere The stage and the competition this week looks like a pub tournament its really sad to see it go to what it is and the PDC is in total command and i enjoy that too but ladies darts and even kids aged 14 are playing this week, the good thing used to be a semi pro part time plumber could win the trophy for example thats the BDO and how i liked it back in the days of jocky wilson and bristow Barry hearn and PDC have basically help finish the BDO and no sponsor wants to know anymore and moving it to the 02 has killed it too sad to see it go how it has and but im still watching it this week on eurosport and its painful at times as the standard also has dropped

I am a darts fan too, I never used to have any interest at all but in the last 5 years I've really enjoyed watching the PDC. It is fast paced, an incredible standard and good TV.
The BDO has been slipping into irrelevance for years now. I have never watched that despite watching a lot of PDC darts. Glen Durrant being their defending champion but moving to the PDC tells you everything you need to know and that won't have helped attendances this year.
They need to merge, with the BDO becoming like lower level football where you have to prove yourself to then step up to the big leagues.
I have felt very sorry for the players this week though playing to such low crowds. Plus darts live relies on the atmosphere and that is none existent.
Some of the darts has been shocking too But you need atmosphere for players to up their game I saw that the prize money had been more than halved Some getting as low as £150 in lower rounds and Fallon Sherrock Pulled out due to lack of prize money Ladies winner little as £8000 some PDC players wouldn’t get out of bed for that, and as you say northwest only the PDC can save it and make it like a Lower division,it’s a good idea in theory Moving it to the 02 was the stupidest idea as people wont pay the high entry prices and the travel costs required Money talks and the BDO is in real danger of ending and it’s a shame to lose a lower level darts organisation that has proved players like Durrant can compete at the highest level from the BDO I love the PDC though the walk ons and players like peter wright doing his dancing really makes it fun He also deserved to win the world championship Van Gerwen is a bit robotic but a damn good player and he’s a very rich man due to darts

It is strange for a sport to have two different bodies anyway at the top level when you think about it. How can there be 2 world champions in the same sport crowned within 2 weeks of each other?
It would make a lot more sense to all play in the same organisation. Then the best is the very best.
