We'll meet again Don't know where Don't know when But I know we'll meet again some sunny day Keep smiling through Just like you always do 'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away So will you please say hello To the folks that I know Tell them I won't be long They'll be happy to know That as you saw me go I was singing this song We'll meet again Don't know where Don't know when But I know we'll meet again some sunny day We'll meet again
Some Premiership players are so cocooned from the real world they think they are outside the laws and don't have to act like decent people. Look at Jack Grealish who appeared on Aston Villa TV telling the fans to stay in but then he went out partying before crashing his car on the way home.
It was recently reported that the average Premiership players salary is £70k/week so it's not as though they are short of a bob or two.
I even saw the PFA chief ( Gordon Taylor ) who earns £2.2m a year telling the players NOT to accept pay cuts.
Greedy, selfish, tossers You only need a certain amount of money to live Difference with premier league players and us,we buy a normal 10000 car they buy a customised 100000 Land Rover to add to their 5 car collection You can’t take it with you,it won’t stop you getting coronavirus if your rich, you will die in world war 3 if your rich or poor You are no different than any of us
Do you actually think the isolation is a big OTT I think if your sat in the park metres apart from anyone else and is that any different to standing in a queue outside Sainsbury’s and cross pathing people in there once you’re in the supermarket anyway It was too late for lockdown before we even started it,the damage was already done, the planes were and still are flying in Yes this helps but I still think you can keep a distance and have a little bit of freedom not simply sit in and watch crap all day I want to do some DIY but there’s nowhere open to buy paint etc I’m lucky I have a garden but a lot of people don’t and it’s simply not fair for little kids to not be able to play outside I want to see my grandchildren play in the garden but we can’t see them,I meet my mum for a coffee every week and I can’t,she liked a chat and I’ve done it since my brother died Like most of you,it must be getting you down,I have moments when I feel like I’m in prison and I want to get out and take my anger out on someone or something It’s soul destroying and I hope today people don’t completely break the rules as we could have weeks more of this and we all want to get back to some normality Just wondering what some of you guys thoughts are on this current situation as it’s a very grim time at the moment
I don't think its OTT when you consider how many people are dying. Ask a nurse or family member of somebody who had died and they won't think it is OTT.
Yes it's not easy but we have to consider it short time pain for long term gain. Not seeing family absolutely sucks, no doubt, but it is for the benefit of everybody.
If anything it sounds to me like they could make the measures even stricter rather than easing them.
Firstly, you are right to point out northwesthoop that the top players do indeed pay an awful lot of tax upon their earnings, but @singlespeed is equally right in saying they are still able to purchase high-end motors. I do think they easily forget their previous clubs and the constant struggle those clubs had to survive. Popping round to a local hospital or school (when it was allowed) or making a video for the community should be more than going through the motions or fulfilling a contract obligation - thse players need to learn gratitude and humility when considering their communities!

22000 people died of flu in 1999 Did we have a lockdown then If you said here’s a drink that will make you sleep and your never wake up again I’d happily accept right now
I think that it is right for high earning footballs to do there bit. but they do play a lot of tax, it runs into the hundreds of millions
If the footballs took a 50% wage cut the tax they paid would be reduced by 50%. therefor any money going into the NHS could also be cut.
The clubs are asking the players to have a 30% pay reduction. this will only benefit the clubs. and put no extra cash into the NHS.
If the players received there full wages but made a charitable contribution of say 20% of there salary this would not only mean that they still paid the full tax on there earnings but also release hundreds of millions to go into paying the clubs staff being put on furlough and with enough left over to go into supporting the NHS.
I also fell that it is not fair to only pick on high earnings footballers.
How many CEO's do you know are taking a pay cut. some of them make footballers earnings seem like small fry.

kensalr I have to say I totally agree with your last sentence! Now is the month when all of the City fund-managers cream off massive bonuses so that should be the first one to be cut or a voluntary 20-30% donated; and the CEOs/other Board-members who will be unable to report a 'rosy' balance-sheet should equally reduce their income. Will they? Probably not!
As Director and with just shy of 30 people working for me (and my 2 business partners) I have taken 20% cut. I haven't asked any of the staff to do so and working hard to avoid furloughing anyone for a couple of reasons as it could be so easy to do it.
1. I think its bad for moral 2. I don't want to the tax burden
This may change as I suspect that the lockdown will go on for a few more weeks yet and the company has to come first so that the staff have something to come back to.
i believe we all have a moral responsibility to not only stay inside and fight the virus but also to not just take the easy step and add to the tax burden if we can do so.
Its tough and i have no idea what other businesses are doing or coping but I do know of a few that have used this as an excuse to keep money in their bank when they can clearly afford to pay staff.
Rant over.
EDIT. This isn't a rant against anyone on here, its against other companies not doing the same.

My boss couldn’t wait to furlough me and others to be honest He’s very rich, owns several properties and even a boat and even owns the site we are on as it’s been a long running family business I was worried about my job and still am but I got a little bit tucked away for a rainy day The boredom and monotonous days are very soul destroying and when making a cup of tea is highlight of your day,you begin to wonder I’m not ill and my family are not so that’s something money can’t buy You sound a great boss surrey and fair play to you
