I admire his honesty, but that is where it stops with me for Barton.
Just a few points of many I could have made:
His views on Neil Warnock will probably be very different to yours
No matter how Barton tries to word it you can tell he had a massive role in the Warnock sacking
Mark Hughes was as arrogant as can be and had no man management skills
Joey Barton - despite not kicking a ball - had a huge impact in our 2012/13 relegation, bad mouthing Hughes around the training ground in front of new players. No wonder the 'big money' signings had a poor attitude and low effort after witnessing that
He only came back by default ahead of the promotion season and only played better as he thought he could impress and get a move elsewhere
Harry Redknapp was close to the sack during the promotion season and was almost just a figurehead rather than an active manager
I can sort of accept that he has such a high opinion of himself (we want players to be confident not hesitant), but I am amazed that he can make his (many) mistakes always sound somehow like attributes! Useful though to find out how much power the players have over their manager (and how little loyalty)!! However, but I do have to agree with him that Warnock is indeed centred upon his favourites and him confirming what a joke as a manger is Leslie Mark Hughes....
I agree he has a knack of making himself sound like the victim in the situations he created.
I've listened to the next one where he talks about Rangers and his manager there was our own Mark Warburton - it sounds like Barton was a nightmare at that time, totally disrespectful.
He certainly had a lack of respect for all his managers. I have no doubt that players can be vocal and offer their views but Barton seemed to get well above his station. He almost wanted to be the manager at times. Every manager he talks about he is wanting to rule the roost...
Warnock - he played a part in his sacking Hughes - insane levels of disrespect Redknapp - Barton goes in his office to tell him to sort it out or he'd get sacked Warburton - It was Bartons way or the highway. "Adjust how we play or I'll walk off" seemed to be the message.
Barton should have just put his head down and played football. I thought that about 50 times listening to each podcast!
Very interesting comments by Joey Barton about Mark Warbuton and his tactics at Rangers.
1. Kept doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
2. Rangers week link was defending set pieces.
3. Warburton was in over his head and didn't have a clue.
4. Attacked with the wrong structure
5. Warburton changed his team just hours before they played Celtic in a game they were beaten 5 - 1 but didn't know what went wrong.
6. Lee Wallace is NOT a left sided centre back. Barton also suggested that Wallace prefers going forward to defending.
It just as well we dont play Celtic because it seems that Warburton learnt nothing at Rangers and most of Barton's comments could have been pinched from this site about his tactics and style at QPR.
