I agree about the idiots that will travel to games and they are just that idiots, but are they any different to the idiots packing the beaches last weekend or those having COVID parties and BBQs?
Is there an option not to televise games and get the season concluded so it can be done fairly and without risk? If so will this increase the numbers going to grounds? If they are televised then it may reduce the amount of people trying to get to see them? This costs money and why should sky as a business give away its right to the BBC for free? There is no way I would give my competitor part of something I have paid millions for for free.
Personally I haven't read an article or listened to a podcast or interview anywhere that can give a reasoned argument for just ending the season. Yes money is 99% of the issue as the sums for winning the title or getting promoted are huge, but its no different than if someone cancelled an order with my business when we are 75% complete on the project. The investment I have had to make to get the job done could cause me to bust, football clubs are businesses at the end of the day as are the TV companies.
It will take a much much much smarter person that me (and that's 99.9% of the people on the planet ) to resolve this to a point where everyone is happy. We all have our opinions as the messages above clearly show.
Opinions are driven by our personal beliefs, experience and those that influence us.
Just to give you some context on my point of view which will hopefully give you some idea on why I have the is opinion . Covid hasn't affected me or my family thankfully, my dad is in his 70 isn't the fittest of people so yes I do worry about him. I have members of staff that have had it and one person who has lost his mum to it and wasnt able to get back to say goodbye whilst she was in the hospital not was he able to get home to Spain to be with his family for the funeral which upset me. We work mainly in Healthcare premises and have seen them overrun with COVID cases but also seeing that there a very few hospitals with large numbers of cases and the first battle is won, the second battle is now underway which is managing it which is why I fear large crowds.
Many of my clients in the healthcare market are football fans just like me and they are itching for the season to come back as they crave normality and they same the same thing, this risk to the players and staff is minimal as long as they keep testing. It the self isolation that the players and staff have to do in order to allow them to play is far greater than anything we now have.
Again this post isn't to argue with anyone, accuse anyone of being less intelligent or meant to cause offence or hurt I an REALLY hope it hasn't, it is after all just my opinion and I hope it has some reasoning behind it.
Stay safe and well everyone. You R's
