I'm sure most if not all of us know the fanzine A Kick Up The R's, and have often seen its founder/chief Dave Thomas selling it outside Loftus Road and the away ends of grounds up and down the country. For me, and I'm sure others, buying AKUTRs has been part of the matchday ritual for as long as I can remember; still to this day when going to watch the R's in the North West or Yorkshire I seek Dave out (not too hard, you can't miss him really!) to get a copy.
It's a QPR institution, and has been going over 30 years. For Dave, as much as QPR legend as the other Dave Thomas, it is fundementally his source of income. However, times have not been kind to print football fanzines, and very many have died off. R's fans are very lucky that AKUTRs is still going. For a publication so reliant on matchday sales, lockdown has been a serious blow.
So to keep AKUTRs going Dave has now also started publishing AKUTRs online.
Considering the fantastic quality and quantity it's exceedingly good value for money to subscribe.
Please let's keep this R's institution going. It's part of our culture, history and heritage, part of what makes QPR such a great family to be a part of.
Online edition 1 has now been made free (as if you needed any more convincing!) : Online Edition 1
Here's the website, where you will find details about subscriptions: AKUTRs

This is awesome - so many pages. I would love to buy a copy - do they post overseas? I'm willinging to pay pretty much whatever - I would love a hard copy as it's been awhile since I have added to my collection of QPR history. I'm more than happy to do my bit for a wonderful service.
A Kick Up The R's is most definitely a QPR institution.
I have many memories of Dave strolling around the away end at half time shouting 'Kick Up the Rrrrrrrr's"
They have done amazingly well to stay in print so long. As you say they have now moved online at £20 for 6 months subscription. I imagine depending on uptake they may stay online. It cannot have been easy to keep going as other club fanzines and even a lot of club programmes have fallen by the wayside.
I guess the problem for A Kick Up The R's is staying up to date. By the time you read it, it could be 3 matches later and all the opinions have dated because we've lost all 3 matches since, so the viewpoint has changed and it loses it's relevance quickly. That's always been the problem I guess, but in this era when everybody is now online and up to date and in the moment I sense the next generation of R's fans will move away from publications like A Kick Up The R's. You only have to look at the recent collapse of Q Magazine to see the world has sadly moved away from print.
I remember as a kid I may have only got the score for the last QPR match on ceefax and had 3 lines of match report the next day in a small box in the newspaper. So to then have A Kick Up The R's cover all the recent matches in great detail made me feel up to date and connected to the club. Dave has done well to keep going as long as he has and I hope it can survive because it is still synonymous with QPR.
Dave recently tweeted this:
5.00am. Wide awake. Again. Not had one decent night's sleep in four months. Tired now, bordering on exhausted. Worry, worry, worry. Night after night after night. The two of us - no work, no income, no government help. No end in sight either. Struggling to hold it together.
..and followed it up with this Twitter thread explaining his situation. So you are very right to open up this thread Rosco Bosco.
ashqpr they definitely did post overseas in the past and probably still will once they go back to print versions. If you send Dave an email or contact him he may be able to advise.
That's great ashqpr; thanks a lot They do post overseas, if you would prefer a printed version. Subscription info If you have any queries you can email Dave: qpr@netcomuk.co.uk.
